Faith Formation

Spirituality and the Workplace Workshops

You are invited to join with Episcopalians from across the Diocese of Pennsylvania to attend one (or all) of a series of three workshops to discuss issues of spirituality and the workplace being held on October 25th and 26th. The workshops, sponsored by the Philadelphia Theological Institute will be led by The Rev. Dr. John Lewis who challenges people to embody Christ in every context of their daily life and work. Each of the three workshops will highlight a different aspect of faith and work such as professional ethics and leadership in the workplace.

For specific time, location, and topic information about each of the three workshops, please visit http://philadelphiatheologicalinstitute.org/john-lewis-spirituality-and-the-workplace/ or call the Reverend James Shannon at 610-804-2860.

Let Your Light Shine for Christmas Ingathering (Dec. 1)

For 46 years, SEPA congregations have banded together with an "Ingathering" of gifts serving people in need, locally and globally, with a variety of holiday gift donations. Working together, we have the capacity to serve more people in need than we can alone.

This year's ingathering is Sunday, Dec. 1, and donations benefit Lutheran Children and Family Service, Seamen's Church Institute, Lutheran World Relief, local Lutheran food pantries, Lutheran Settlement House, Philadelphia Lutheran Ministries, and other local institutions of care.

Connecting/Communicating

Satisfied With Your Congregation's Website?

Are you satisfied with your congregation's website? At a recent Communicators' Network Gathering, Bob Fisher shared tips for congregations looking to evaluate their existing website or develop a new site.

Websites are a key portal that visitors use to find and evaluate congregations, Fisher says. Many adults use web searches instead of telephone books or newspaper ads to locate congregations, and recent research by the Barna Group indicates that 56% of practicing Christian millennials (and 34% of all millennials) visit a faith group's website before or instead of visiting in person. Among millennials (young adults born between 1977 and 1992) 70% read Scripture online, and more than 50% search for spiritual content, particularly videos, on the web.

Keep Your Website Fresh with Feeds from SEPA

Your congregation's website can offer up-to-date events and information from the Synod by including RSS feeds from our website. Information published via feeds update automatically as users visit your site -- no work involved on your part! Here's some of the information you can easily include.
