Dear youth and parents,

I had a great time on our 4 state, 1600 mile round trip journey to Alison's ordination this past weekend, and we had a great group from UCC in attendance. Below are a couple of photos from the event, and I'll plan to post more to the youth Facebook page in the next couple of weeks.

Read on for info about the Chi Rho Mission Trip, Alison's new calling (in case you missed it last week), volunteering with Vacation Bible School, and more!

Grace and peace,
Russ

Alison Nicoll accepts call to Ankeny Christian Church
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After serving as an Assistant Minister here at University Christian Church since December of 2012, Alison Nicoll has accepted a call to serve as Associate Pastor at Ankeny Christian Church in Ankeny, Iowa. Alison graduated from Brite Divinity School at TCU on May 7, and will be ordained to Christian ministry on May 28 at West Des Moines Christian Church, her home congregation in Iowa. As Ankeny Christian Church's first Associate Pastor, Alison will work collaboratively with the Senior Pastor in a variety of leadership roles: preaching, coordinating and leading worship, providing pastoral care, overseeing the Christian education program, and encouraging ecumenical cooperation with other congregations. She will be serving a thriving congregation in the third-fastest growing city in the country, and her role at the church provides an opportunity to take what she has learned here at UCC and branch out into new and different areas of ministry.
Alison's last Sunday at University Christian Church will be June 26, and you're invited to wish her well at receptions following each worship service in the Gallery. She has touched many lives as she served our congregation faithfully for over three years, so be sure to let her know how much you appreciate her as she transitions to an exciting new calling!
Youth VBS volunteer training lunch on Sunday, June 12
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Feeling sad that you are too old to participate in Vacation Bible School? Don't be - we NEED YOU! Take time during VBS week (June 21-24 from 9 a.m. - noon) to step back to your preschool or elementary days and share some of your energy, enthusiasm, and spirit with kids. More importantly, young children are looking up to you, think you are great, and want to be like you. Create relationships that will last years by spending time with kids during VBS teaching, learning, and having fun together.

You can sign
up as a volunteer online by clicking here. We need to know you are coming so we can match you with the best job available, so please take the time to clear your calendar for June 21-24 and sign up today! And mark your calendar for the training lunch for youth VBS volunteers on Sunday, June 12 at 12:15 p.m.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Main Event
UCC's Chi Rho youth (completed grades 6-8) will be playing at Main Event on Wednesday afternoon, June 15. The group will meet at UCC at 1 p.m. to carpool over (or meet us at Main Event at 1:30) and return around 4:30 p.m. (or pick up at Main Event at 4). For only $15, each youth gets an hour of bowling, a game of laser tag, $10 worth of arcade tokens, two slices of pizza, and a drink. This is a great opportunity to invite friends to a church outing, so feel free to do so. We must provide a headcount several days in advance, so e-mail me at tyler.heston@uccftw.comto RSVP by Friday, June 10.
PARENTS: If you are able to drive please
e-mail me and let me know how many youth you can transport in your vehicle. We will need several adults to take youth to Main Event and several to pick up when we finish.
Volunteer with refugees here in Fort Worth on June 18
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

On June 18 we're hosting a booth at World Refugee Day in the gymnasium at Resource Connection, Fort Worth (2300 Circle Drive). We will be playing Round up the Farm and life-size Kerplunk to celebrate with refugee families and make them feel more at home and welcome in our Forth Worth community. Games last from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. and we will have UCC t-shirts to wear to the event.

Contact Allison Bright to let her know what times work best for you or your child at allison.bright@uccftw.com. We hope to see you there!
