Dear youth and parents,

Today we are starting sign-ups for the Youth Thanksgiving Feast, a fun annual event where youth, parents, volunteers, and other groups that meet on Sunday nights enjoy a big holiday meal together. This year's feast will take place on Sunday, November 22, and our Sunday evening programs will begin at their regular times, but arrive at dinner in intervals to ensure the line is never too long. (Chi Rho will come at 5:45, high school bells at 6:00, CCF/JYF and college at 6:15.) We love when parents join us for this event, so if you're able to come be sure to use the SignupGenius link in the article below to RSVP and let us know what dish you'd like to bring
.

Read on for details on the CYF retreat departure, tomorrow's football parking fundraiser, a Dallas Stars hockey outing, and more.

Grace and peace,
Russ

A group of our high school youth and adult sponsors will travel to Athens today for the CYF Fall Retreat at our church camp, Disciples Crossing. Please keep this group in your prayers as they gather with high school youth from Disciples churches all over north and east Texas to grow closer to God and one another on holy ground.

Retreat participants: Remember to meet at UCC at 5:30 p.m. to load the vans for camp, and be sure to eat dinner before you arrive! A packing list for the weekend is available here if you missed the e-mail earlier this week.

Football parking fundraiser tomorrow: TCU vs. Kansas
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Football season is rolling along, and youth and parents have the opportunity to raise money by parking cars in the church lots for TCU football games. Part of the money raised goes into youth and youth handbell choir reserve funds, and part goes into the individual accounts of those who work each game to use for camps, retreats, trips, and other church events. Each hour is worth $50 per family member who works.
The next TCU home game is tomorrow, November 14 against Kansas. Kickoff is at 11:00 a.m., and we will need volunteers in shifts from 6:30-11:30 a.m. to control access to our season parking lots and direct cars/take money for the daily parking lots. To see which slots are available and reserve your shift (up to 3 hours), click the button below:
Latte With The Ladies this Saturday at Holy Grounds
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Latte With The Ladies, a monthly intergenerational gathering for women at a local coffee shop, will be this Saturday, November 14. Ladies of all ages are invited to gather at Holy Grounds Coffee & Gifts in Aledo (108 Jearl St.) between 9 and 11 a.m. for tasty beverages and informal conversation. Invite a friend and drop in this Saturday morning!

On Saturday, December 12 at 2 p.m. there will be a special Latte With The Ladies at the Secret Garden Restaurant located in the Montgomery Street Antique Mall. Because seating is limited, reservations are required. Click here
to reserve your spot and make the $15 payment in advance.

Dallas Stars hockey outing November 21 - RSVP today!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our middle and high school youth will be taking the train to the American Airlines Center to see the Dallas Stars take on the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, November 21. For each ticket we purchase ($20 each), the Stars will donate a ticket to Buckner International so that an adoptive family can enjoy a hockey game together this season.
The group will check in at the T&P train station starting at 5 p.m. to take the 5:20 train to Dallas, and will return to the station around 11:15 p.m. (If you would prefer to drive and meet the group at the game, you're welcome to do so.) We have a block of 25 tickets reserved for our group, and once those are claimed additional ticket availability is not guaranteed. Click here to reserve your ticket for the game.
Adults: You are welcome to join us as a chaperone, just be sure to indicate that on the reservation form.
5th annual Youth Thanksgiving Feast is November 22
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thanksgiving turkey
The 5th annual Youth Thanksgiving Feast will be Sunday, November 22 and all 6th-12th graders, volunteers, and parents are invited, along with Sunday night children's and college programs who usually join us for snack supper. Turkey will be provided, and we ask that everyone bring a side or dessert to share. Food should be brought to Room 207 between 5 and 5:30 p.m. for setup, and from 5:45 to 6:45 we will enjoy dinner and fun Thanksgiving activities between youth groups and bell choir rehearsals.

If you plan to attend, please click the SignUpGenius icon below to see what others have signed up to bring and add your side or dessert to the list. Five green bean casseroles is probably enough (for most people, anyway).
