Dear youth and parents,
I returned from our CYF Mission Trip to the Rio Grand Valley on Saturday, and I'm thankful for a great group and great work. We had the opportunity to help out at Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries, and we learned a lot about their valuable ministries as we spent the week building wooden benches for their facility. I'm looking forward to sharing more about the trip at the Mission Trip Shareholders Luncheon on August 2. In the meantime, be sure to check out the Facebook page for the trip to see photos from our time in Los Fresnos. Last night I went to DFW airport to say farewell to our high school handbell choir, the UCC Ringers, as they took off for a tour of England. It was great to see such an excited group of youth, staff, and chaperones, and to pray with them before they headed to their gate. I know they've been rehearsing for a long time to perform overseas, and I'm looking forward to hearing all about their trip when they return. More info on their tour is in the article below.
Also, please be sure to keep our campers in your prayers as they conclude a week at Disciples Crossing. Between Chi Rho Camp and Eighters Camp, we have 26 campers representing UCC this week, along with several staff (including Alison Nicoll and Kiran Penn). The campers will be heading home tomorrow morning.

Summer youth outings coming up the last week of July

We have two summer youth events coming up during the last week of July:
Our high school youth (plus incoming freshmen) will enjoy a night of go-karts, bumper boats, mini golf, and more at Putt Putt Golf & Games in Hurst on Tuesday, July 28. The group will meet at UCC at 7 p.m., cost is $10 per person.
Our middle school youth (plus incoming 6th graders) will cool off with a swim day at Burger's Lake on Thursday, July 30. The group will meet at 1 p.m., cost is $10 per person.

Latte With The Ladies this Saturday at Black Rooster Bakery

Latte With The Ladies, a monthly intergenerational gathering for women at a local coffee shop, will be this Saturday, July 11. Ladies of all ages are invited to gather at Black Rooster Bakery (2430 Forest Park Blvd.) between 9 and 11 a.m. for tasty beverages and informal conversation. Invite a friend and drop in this Saturday morning!

Sunday School Sabbath month continues through July 26
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~
Sunday school classes for youth and children began a month-long break on July 5. (Preschool childcare is still available all morning each Sunday.) This Sunday School Sabbath is intended to provide a period of rest and renewal for teachers, participants, and families at UCC, and allows time to do some things you may not normally do on Sunday mornings. What can you do with that hour each Sunday morning? Here are some ideas:
- Sleep in and take your time getting ready for 11:00 worship.
- Go to the 9:00 service, then go out for brunch with family or friends.
- Invite a friend to worship and show them around the building.
- Grab a couple of seats in one of the many conversation spaces throughout the building and catch up with someone you haven't talked to in a while.
However you choose to spend this time of rest and renewal from our usual programming, we hope it's a life-giving and rejuvenating time.
