Dear youth and parents,
Over the last year a number of people have asked if we will ever do another interfaith "trialogue" that provides an opportunity for our youth to connect with our Jewish and Muslim neighbors to learn about each other's faith traditions. I'm happy to share that the ball got rolling this week, and we are currently planning to offer this event for 8th-12th graders on three Sunday mornings in October and November (each one hosted by a different house of worship). The last trialogue that followed this format in 2010 was one of the most popular youth events that we have done, and I'm excited that a new generation of youth will get to be a part of this learning experience with our neighbors. I will share more details in the near future after the participating congregations nail everything down, but I wanted to let you know this is coming later in the fall!
Read on for more information on youth group meetings, the next TCU football parking fundraiser, and more.

Next youth football parking fundraiser this Saturday ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~
Football season is here again, and youth and parents have the opportunity to raise money by parking cars in the church lots for TCU football games. Part of the money raised goes into youth and youth handbell choir reserve funds, and part goes into the individual accounts of those who work each game to use for camps, retreats, trips, and other church events. This year, each hour is worth $50 per family member who works. The next TCU home game is this Saturday, September 13 against Minnesota. Kickoff is at 3:00 p.m., and we will need volunteers in shifts from 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. to control access to our season parking lots and direct cars/take money for the daily parking lots. You can reserve your shift (up to 3 hours) by clicking the button below:
All volunteers are required to sign up online in advance of the fundraiser. If you are having trouble with the SignUpGenius page, please contact me at russ@uccftw.com and I will schedule your shift for you.

Roots participants meet at Sweet Frog on September 21 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From Alison Nicoll, Assistant Minister for Middle School:
On Sunday, September 21, 6th graders and high school mentors participating in the Roots program will meet under the porte-cochere at 3:45 p.m. to walk to Sweet Frog before evening youth group meetings! This is a great opportunity to not only get fro-yo with your Roots buddy, but to get caught up on the first few weeks of school and to check-in with one another. Please be sure to check in with your buddy to see if they will be there! To help with the cost, we are suggesting a $3 donation. Can't wait to see you there!

Want a one-time volunteer gig? Provide a snack supper!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Youth parents! See the youth up close, personal and appreciative by serving Snack Supper on Sunday night. Snack supper is a great way to see and get to know the youth, and it's fun!
The commitment is for one Sunday evening, from about 5:45-7 p.m., plus cooking or shopping time - you decide how much time you want to spend on preparation. Dinner is served at 6:15 p.m. in the third floor kitchen for 30-40 youth, children, and college students. All the paper goods, cutlery, drink supplies, and most condiments are there for you. You provide the food, fix lemonade (provided), serve everything and clean up. You can choose to donate the meal, or you can be reimbursed up to $100 if you provide itemized receipts. You will receive a reminder e-mail the week before your snack supper that includes additional useful tips and suggested menus. The third floor kitchen can be used anytime after 2:30 p.m. on Sundays for advance prep. (Sandwiches are just as popular as anything else, so cooking isn't required if that's not your thing.) If you prefer to purchase all or part of the food already prepared, that's great too. There's also a fridge and freezer you can stash things in. Ready to volunteer?
