Dear youth and parents,
I'm writing to you from First Christian Church in Portland, Oregon where we are staying for the last couple of days of the CYF Mission Trip. It's been a memorable week, and we will be heading home tomorrow after worshipping at FCC and spending the afternoon in Portland. Click here to see pictures from our trip, and be sure to ask one of the participants about it after we return. I guarantee you they will have some great stories to share!
Read on for more information about Sunday school sabbath month, a UCC outing to a Fort Worth Cats game, a CYF Whirlyball outing, summer fellowship events, and more.

CYF mission group returns tonight - follow them online!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A group of 17 high school youth and 8 adults spent the last week on the CYF Mission Trip to Yakama Christian Mission in White Swan, Washington. During the week the group worked at several sites coordinated by the mission, including Just Living Farm and Noah's Ark Homeless Shelter. They will also participated in a number of educational and cultural activities, with trips to the Yakama Nation Cultural Heritage Center, Fort Simcoe, and a cattle auction. The group is currently wrapping up by exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, with stops at Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, Cannon Beach, and Portland, Oregon (where we will worship at First Christian Church before heading home).
Sunday school sabbath month begins today
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sunday school classes for youth and children will begin a month-long break starting today. (Preschool childcare is still available all morning each Sunday.) This Sunday School Sabbath is intended to provide a period of rest and renewal for teachers, participants, and families at UCC, and allows time to do some things you may not normally do on Sunday mornings. What can you do with that hour each Sunday morning? Here are some ideas:
- Sleep in and take your time getting ready for 11:00 worship.
- Go to the 9:00 service, then go out for brunch with family or friends.
- Invite a friend to worship and show them around the building.
- Grab a couple of seats in one of the many conversation spaces throughout the building and catch up with someone you haven't talked to in a while.
However you choose to spend this time of rest and renewal from our usual programming, we hope it's a life-giving and rejuvenating time.

Send mail to campers at Chi Rho and Eighters Camps
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
29 of UCC's youth will be at Disciples Crossing, our church camp in Athens, this week for Chi Rho Camp and Eighter's Camp. During the week our campers will join with youth and adults from other Disciples churches in the area to grow closer to God and one another on holy ground. Please keep this group in your prayers, and pick up a pre-addressed postcard in the Gallery on Sunday to send mail to one of our campers during the week.
Parents: Remember to meet at UCC at 2 p.m. on Sunday for the Eighter's Camp carpool and 8 a.m. on Monday morning for the Chi Rho camp carpool!
Batter up! It's UCC night at the Fort Worth Cats ballgame
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Join others from UCC at LaGrave Field (301 NE 6th St.) this Sunday, July 6 for the baseball game at 6:05 p.m. Seats are just $5 on Sundays! Come enjoy an evening of great minor league with your friends from church as the Fort Worth Cats take on the San Angelo Colts. Plan to meet at the ticket office at 5:45 p.m. so everyone can purchase seats in the same section. Together we can cheer on Eric Vanderwerken as he operates the scoreboard!

High school outing to play Whirlyball this Friday, July 11 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
Youth in grades 9-12 will take a trip to Hurst this Friday, July 11 to play Whirlyball, an exciting game that combines basketball, lacrosse, and bumper cars. The group will meet at 7 p.m. to carpool to the facility for two hours of play, and should return to the church by 10:30 p.m. This is one of the most popular youth outings each year, and a great opportunity to invite a friend. NOTE: We need to confirm how many players we have so that we can ensure there are enough seats. To RSVP or to volunteer as a driver, contact Michael Yandell at michael.yandell@uccftw.com. Want to learn more about what the heck whirlyball is? Go to whirlyballmidcities.com to learn more!
