Dear youth and parents,

We just wrapped up a great week of Vacation Bible School, and this year we had 28 middle and high school youth helping out as volunteers. You have likely heard me say before that working with younger kids in church is one of the biggest predictors of continued involvement in church after graduation, so I am thrilled with the number of youth helping out at VBS. (Not only that, but they do a wonderful job assisting group leaders, helping with snacks and crafts, leading games, assisting with music, and more.) I hope that you will be able to hear the kids from VBS sing in the 11:00 service on Sunday - I have heard the song QUITE a few times over the course of the week, and they sound great!

Read on for more information about following the CYF Mission Trip online, a CYF Whirlyball outing, summer fellowship events, and more.

Grace and Peace,

Russ

CYF Mission Trip departs Sunday - follow the group online!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A group of 17 high school youth and 8 adults depart Sunday for the CYF Mission Trip to Yakama Christian Mission in White Swan, Washington. During the week the group will work at several sites coordinated by the mission, including Just Living Farm and Noah's Ark Homeless Shelter. They will also participate in a number of educational and cultural activities, with trips to the Yakama Nation Cultural Heritage Center, Fort Simcoe, and a cattle auction. At the end of the week, the group will take a couple of days to explore the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, with stops at Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, Cannon Beach, and Portland, Oregon (where we will worship at First Christian Church before heading home).
Batter up! It's UCC night at the Fort Worth Cats ballgame
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Join others from UCC at LaGrave Field (301 NE 6th St.) on Sunday, July 6 for the baseball game at 6:05 p.m. Seats are just $5 on Sundays! Come enjoy an evening of great minor league with your friends from church as the Fort Worth Cats take on the San Angelo Colts. Plan to meet at the ticket office at 5:45 p.m. so everyone can purchase seats in the same section. Together we can cheer on Eric Vanderwerken as he operates the scoreboard!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Whirlyball~~~
Youth in grades 9-12 will take a trip to Hurst on Friday, July 11 to play Whirlyball, an exciting game that combines basketball, lacrosse, and bumper cars. The group will meet at 7 p.m. to carpool to the facility for two hours of play, and should return to the church by 10:30 p.m. This is one of the most popular youth outings each year, and a great opportunity to invite a friend.
NOTE: We need to confirm how many players we have so that we can ensure there are enough seats. To RSVP or to volunteer as a driver, contact Michael Yandell at michael.yandell@uccftw.com.
