Dear youth and parents,
Our youth ministry staff is shifting into summer mode, and we've been busy finalizing dates for the summer calendar, making preparations for the arrival of our summer youth ministry interns, finalizing mission trip plans, and moving offices (because we didn't have enough going on). We're looking forward to a great summer of camps, trips, and special fellowship events, and I'll have more details on all of those (as well as the office moves on the 3rd floor) in next week's e-news.
Read on for more information about our new summer interns, the mission trip stock sale, registration for the Chi Rho Mission Trip, and more.
Grace and Peace, Russ |

Summer youth ministry interns arrive at UCC next week ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
This summer our youth ministry again welcomes two full-time interns who will be learning about ministry here at UCC. After advertising the positions nationally and accepting applications, an interview committee assisted the staff in selecting our interns:
Brenda Mapel (right) just completed her junior year at TCU where she is majoring in Religion and minoring in Sociology. She is a native of Arkansas City, Kansas where she completed her freshman and sophomore years at Cowley College before transferring to TCU.
Kirstin Meyers (left) just completed her sophomore year at Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois where she is majoring in Religion & Philosophy. She is a native of Seymour, Indiana.
Brenda and Kirstin start their internships on Tuesday and will wrap up on August 4. They will spend part of their time here providing leadership in the youth ministry in Sunday school, at youth events, on mission trips, at camps, and around the office. The rest of their time will be devoted to exploring their own calls to ministry by shadowing and learning from other ministers at UCC and in the Fort Worth area. Both interns will be keeping a journal that chronicles their experiences, and at the end of the summer each one will write a reflection paper that synthesizes what they will take away from the experience. Please give Kirstin and Brenda a warm welcome as they join our staff for the summer!

Stock sale to support mission trips begins this Sunday ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
Starting this Sunday morning, May 25 our congregation has an opportunity to buy stock in our youth mission trips at the table located in the Gallery. At $10 per share, the stock will fund work projects on the Yakama Indian Reservation and earns an invitation to a "shareholders luncheon" at the end of the summer to hear about the trips. If you or your child can't make the trip, this is a great way to support youth missions and get an exclusive report about the trips afterward. Just stop by the table in the Gallery any Sunday morning after either worship service or Sunday school from May 25 - June 22 and one of the trip participants will be happy to help you.
CYF Mission Trip participants: You will need to select at least two time slots to sell stock. Click here to go to the sign up page and select your time slots.
