Dear youth and parents,
On Tuesday evening I had the pleasure of working with a small committee to interview applicants for our summer internship program via Skype. This year seven college students applied for the two internships we have available, and it was a very impressive field of candidates. By the end of the evening our team was able to narrow the field down to the applicants that we thought would be the best fit for the program, and I will look forward to sharing information about them next week after we complete a few final steps. Special thanks to Michael Yandell, Sarah Jane McDonald, Andrew Darr, and Jacob Coffey for spending a long night interviewing the candidates and providing helpful feedback on each one. For a description of our summer internship program, click here and take a look at the document that was sent to ministers, college chaplains, regional staffers, and others who could get it in the hands of interested students.
Read on for more information on spring break programming changes, a Roots outing to Flight Deck Trampoline Park, a weekly supper and service for the season of Lent, and more.

Weekly Lenten supper and worship begins this Wednesday ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From Dr. Suzanne Castle, Associate Minister:
Perhaps this year, as we journey through the season of Lent, we need to stop and consider our own crying. Consider how we cry-or don't cry-about our sins and our involvement in the evil ways of the world; for the pain that is being inflicted on the world-the many by the few; and consider the crying out to those inflictors, whether they be our own people or those labeled as the enemy. We have cried for ourselves, our past, the cries of self-pity, the cries of the future, and the cries for our injuries; but how do we cry during Lent as followers of Christ in the wilderness in the midst of covenant? Maybe we do so in the midst of worship and exercise our prophetic voices, lungs, hands, and hearts.
You are invited on our journey in worship on Wednesday evenings during Lent to experience a simple meal in community and then join in a worshipful act of prayer, communion and song each week in the Fellowship Hall from 6-7 p.m. We are asking for various groups in the church to volunteer to provide simple meals of soup/bread for the community from 6-6:30 p.m. All ages are encouraged to participate. Childcare will be provided for children 5 and under.
Please come and cry, pray and sing with us this Lenten season. Contact suzanne@uccftw.com with questions or sharyn@uccftw.com to schedule your group to help with the meal.

Pick a month and volunteer for Sunday bagel/donut delivery ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
From Courtney Perry, Sunday Morning Snackage Coordinator:
Hello all! We are in need of volunteers (adults or youth who can drive) for Sunday morning snack pickups for our middle and high school youth. Thank you to those that have graciously volunteered already this year. This easy job, not requiring large amounts of time, entails picking up pre-ordered snacks from either Circle Donuts or Einstein's Bagels and dropping them off in the youth gathering room by 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings for one month. We currently need volunteers for each month from March through August.
To sign up, visit our SignupGenius page here. If you have questions, please e-mail me at sundaysnackvolunteers@yahoo.com. Thank you!

Roots outing to Flight Deck coming on March 21 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ever wanted to jump in a room full of trampolines? 6th graders and high school mentors in the Roots program will be doing exactly that at Flight Deck, an indoor trampoline park, on Friday, March 21! We will meet at Flight Deck at 7 p.m., begin jumping around at 7:30, and finish at 8:30. The trampoline park is located at 7751 Scott Street (near Ridgmar Mall). We need a minimum number of participants for the group rate, so PLEASE RSVP to this event by emailing me at alison.nicoll@uccftw.com by Wednesday, March 19. Be sure to let me know if you will need a ride from UCC to Flight Deck. Otherwise I will assume you are meeting there. Parents: In order for your youth to bounce, you must sign a liability form. You may bring your child to Flight Deck and sign it there, OR you can fill it out online here. Be sure to wear your Roots T-Shirt so that we can pick each other out in the crowd! Can't wait to see you there!

Sign up to share your art in the UCC Decorative Arts Exhibit ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Church and the Arts Ministry would like to include the artisans in our youth ministry this year at a decorative arts exhibit and reception on Sunday, March 30. Registration forms with details about the decorative arts exhibit are now available in the Arches and the reception area or online here. Though the exhibit is focused on the decorative arts (like pottery, furniture, baskets, and other "useful" items) other art submissions like painting and photography are encouraged as well.
Each year the congregation is amazed at all the talents of our members. Make this the year you share yours with all of us! Questions? Contact Carolyn Critz at 817-292-6705 or carolyncritz1954@att.net or Martha Lunday at 817-831-1221 or martha@lunday.com.
