"The Future Is Now" capital campaign for Disciples Crossing

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear youth and parents,
Tomorrow is the first TCU home game of the year, and it's an incredible opportunity for youth and parents to earn money they can use for trips, camps, retreats, and other church events.  For each hour a member of your family spends parking cars in the church lots for the game, your family receives $50 in credit to spend on church-related events.  That means if a father and daughter worked two hours together on Saturday, they would earn $200 in credit.  That's almost enough to cover an entire summer camp registration, or two retreat registrations.  Work the same amount for two more games and you've earned enough to pay for the CYF Ski Retreat.  What's more, a large portion of the the parking income also goes to youth and handbell choir reserve funds to help provide camp/trip scholarships and fund special projects, and a portion goes back into the UCC general fund to support the larger church.  So you're saving money on registration costs for your family, helping to make events more affordable for others, and benefiting the whole church at the same time.  What's not to like?  Read the article below for details on this week's parking fundraiser, and I hope to see you there!
Grace and Peace,
Russ
TCU football parking fundraiser this Saturday morning
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Football season is here again, and youth and parents have the opportunity to raise money by parking cars in the church lots for TCU football games. Part of the money raised goes into youth and youth handbell choir reserve funds, and part goes into the individual accounts of those who work each game to use for camps, retreats, trips, and other church events. This year, each hour is worth $50 per family member who works.  For a good introduction to how our parking operation is organized, click here for details on the setup we used last season.

The first TCU home game is this Saturday, September 7 against Southeastern Louisiana with an 11 a.m. kickoff.  We will need volunteers in 1-2 hour shifts to control access to our season parking lots and direct cars/take money for the daily parking lots. Specifically, we will need about 10 people there at 7 a.m., another 8-10 between 8 and 9 a.m., and 3-4 people (at least 2 adults) who will get there at 9:30 or 10 and commit to stay until 30 minutes after kickoff.  If you have additional questions about this fundraiser, please email Mike Morton at m_morton@sbcglobal.net.

UCC's Children's Closet will be distributing over 2,000 school uniforms this year, and your help is needed! Youth will gather in Fellowship Hall at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11 to move and unpack boxes of clothing and set up for the annual "Bag-it Night." The youth will be joined by volunteers of all ages at 6 p.m. to get the school uniforms bagged, and the event will wrap up by 8. Your work will make a huge difference in the lives of Fort Worth schoolchildren, and you'll earn service hours as well! If you have questions, please contact Kelly Kruse at 817.905.1506 or kellykrusetcu@yahoo.com

"The Future Is Now" capital campaign for Disciples Crossing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bell at Disciples Crossing~~~~
The Disciples Crossing Capital Campaign is well underway, but UCC's Youth and Outreach committees need your help in supporting much needed upgrades and expansions at Disciples Crossing Camp in Athens. Your gift would become a part of UCC's goal to raise $100,000 to support the total campaign effort of $1.25 million. We have reached 45% of our $100,000 goal, and hope to have all gifts and pledges collected by September 15.
The capital campaign will allow new construction, renovation of existing facilities, and the establishment of an endowment for ongoing maintenance.  Highlights include:
- A new 5,400 sq ft lakeside multi-purpose facility that can be used for large gatherings (150+) including assemblies, worship services, and concerts.
 - A spiritual renewal center that provides hotel-style accommodations for marriage enrichment events, elders retreats, and other adult-focused gatherings.
- Upgrades to existing parking lots and technology.
Many of us have witnessed or experienced the impact of time spent on holy ground at Disciples Crossing. Please prayerfully consider sharing a gift to support this important project. You can watch a video about the campaign or make a pledge or gift online here.
