Dear youth and parents,
Hello from Korea! I have been traveling to Army posts in the northern part of the country with my active duty counterparts, and will be heading south to rejoin my Army Reserve unit for the final week of the annual Ulchi Freedom Guardian exercise in a couple of days. It's been a great experience training with our brigade staff for a real world scenario halfway around the world, but I'm looking forward to getting home next weekend and jumping into the new year at UCC.
It's a big weekend, so read on for details about Promotion Sunday, the annual Youth Family Roundup, and the capital campaign for our church camp, Disciples Crossing.

Promotion Sunday is here - youth move up to new classes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 
This Sunday, August 25 is UCC's annual Promotion Sunday, and all youth and children will move into their new classes for this school year. Youth begin gathering in Room 303 at 9:45 for snacks and fellowship, then split into age-based classes after announcements at 10:00 and wrap up for the morning at 10:50.
Classes and rooms for this year are:
6th/7th Grade Boys - 308
6th/7th Grade Girls - 304
8th Grade - 307
9th-10th Grade - 312
11th-12th Grade - 315

Youth Family Roundup for all youth and parents Sunday!

We're beginning an exciting new year in UCC's youth ministry, and there's so much to share about what's coming up and how to get involved! To help get everyone oriented and excited we're hosting a Youth Family Roundup this Sunday evening, August 25 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 207. All 6th-12th grade youth and parents are invited to join us for a fun and informative night where you can:
- Meet our staff, teachers, and youth group sponsors
- Get your copy of the fancy new Youth Directory
- Pick up a major events calendar to plan ahead
- Hear about this year's camps, retreats, and mission trips
- Sign up for volunteer opportunities big and small
- Preview our weekly youth programming
- Buy snack supper punch cards for Sunday night meals
- Hear about (and sign up for) our youth handbell choirs
- Pre-register for Disciples Class, our baptism prep course
- Pre-register for the CYF Ski Retreat
- Take what you're learning and use it to win fun prizes throughout the night
Youth and parents will all meet together from 6:30-7:00, then youth will head upstairs for their first Chi Rho and CYF youth group meetings of the year while parents continue in 207. Round up your classmates and other parents and we'll see you there, pardner!

"The Future Is Now" capital campaign for Disciples Crossing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
The Disciples Crossing Capital Campaign is well underway, but UCC's Youth and Outreach committees need your help in supporting much needed upgrades and expansions at Disciples Crossing Camp in Athens. Your gift would become a part of UCC's goal to raise $100,000 to support the total campaign effort of $1.25 million. We have reached 45% of our $100,000 goal, and hope to have all gifts and pledges collected by September 15.
The capital campaign will allow new construction, renovation of existing facilities, and the establishment of an endowment for ongoing maintenance. Highlights include:
- A new 5,400 sq ft lakeside multi-purpose facility that can be used for large gatherings (150+) including assemblies, worship services, and concerts.
- A spiritual renewal center that provides hotel-style accommodations for marriage enrichment events, elders retreats, and other adult-focused gatherings.
- Upgrades to existing parking lots and technology.
Many of us have witnessed or experienced the impact of time spent on holy ground at Disciples Crossing. Please prayerfully consider sharing a gift to support this important project. You can watch a video about the campaign or make a pledge or gift online here.
