Dear youth and parents,
Tomorrow is the beginning of the General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), our denomination's national gathering that takes place every other year. This year's Assembly will take place in Orlando, Florida (rough, I know) and UCC's youth ministry staff will be present along with most of the ministerial staff. During the week we will attend workshops and learning tracks relevant to our ministries, attend business sessions during the day to consider and vote on denominational reslutions, gather for inspiring worship services each night, and connect with colleagues from all over the country. Most of us will return to Fort Worth on Thursday, and I look forward to sharing some of the things that I have learned during the week.

Sunday School Sabbath for July continues this Sunday
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~
Sunday school classes for youth and children began a month-long break starting last Sunday, July 7. (Preschool childcare is still available all morning each Sunday.) This Sunday School Sabbath is intended to provide a period of rest and renewal for teachers, participants, and families at UCC, and allows time to do some things you may not normally do on Sunday mornings. What can you do with that hour each Sunday morning? Here are some ideas:
- Stop by the third floor for drinks, snacks, and fellowship in Room 303 between services (available from 9:50 - 10:50).
- Sleep in and take your time getting ready for 11:00 worship.
- Go to the 9:00 service, then go out for brunch with family or friends.
- Visit an adult Sunday school class that has elected to meet during July. Check this list to see classes and topics for the month.
- Invite a friend to worship and show them around the building.
- Grab a couple of seats in one of the many conversation spaces throughout the building and catch up with someone you haven't talked to in a while.
However you choose to spend this time of rest and renewal from our usual programming, we hope it's a life-giving and rejuvenating time.

Texas Rangers outing on July 30 - reserve your seats today
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  All 6th-12th grade youth (along with friends and families) are invited to a night at the ballpark as the Texas Rangers take on their division rivals, the LA Angels, on Tuesday, July 30. The group will meet at UCC at 5:15 p.m. to carpool to Arlington for the 7:05 game. $15 covers your ticket and parking fee, and you MUST RSVP since our block of 40 tickets will be first come, first served. Contact Amanda DeWitt at amanda.dewitt@uccftw.com or 817.926.6631 ext. 268 to reserve your tickets. Oh yeah, and it's FREE TOTEBAG NIGHT! Woot!

UCC Youth summer fellowship events - join the fun!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~ UCC's youth ministry is sponsoring a number of fun fellowship events this summer, so be sure to mark your calendars. Here's what's coming up:
Chi Rho (completed grades 6-8)
July 10: Outing to Main Event - 1 p.m.
July 30: Texas Rangers ballgame - 5:30 p.m.
August 2: Outing to Burger's Lake - 1 p.m.
CYF (completed grades 9-12)
June 28: Outing to play Whirlyball - 1 p.m.
July 11: Outing to Coyote Drive-In - 8 p.m.
July 30: Texas Rangers ballgame - 5:30 p.m.
