Dear youth and parents,

It was wonderful to see so many of you at Jessica Vacketta's ordination service on Sunday afternoon.  The service was a joyous, meaningful, and tear-filled recognition of Jessica's gifts, calling, and commitment to her vocation as a minister.  Thanks to everyone who contributed to the handmade white and gold stole she received from the youth and parents of UCC - she loved it and looks forward to wearing it for many years to come.  If you weren't able to make the service, be sure to congratulate JV on her graduation from Brite and ordination to ministry the next time you see her.  I should have some photos from the service to share in next week's e-news.

Read on for information about youth end-of-the-year parties, mission trip registration, volunteering for Vacation Bible School, and more!

Grace and Peace,
Russ

The end of the school year is upon us, and our middle and high school youth will celebrate with end-of-the-year parties this Sunday, May 19 from 6-8 p.m.  Here are the details on the parties:
Pool party graphic
CYF pool party (grades 9-12) will be hosted by the Ruiz family at their home (2528 Greene Ave.)  Bring $5 to help cover dinner, and wear or bring your swimsuit and a towel if you plan to swim.  Jessica promises there will be Settlers of Catan for interested gamers.

Chi Rho water games party (grades 6-8) will take place in the grassy yard adjacent to the church.  Wear a swimsuit under a t-shirt and shorts, bring sandals or water shoes to wear, and bring $5 to help cover din
ner.  It will be a fun night filled with zany outdoor water games, so come cool off at church!

Youth volunteers needed for Vacation Bible School
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VBS logo 2013
From Kera Watts, Director of Children's Ministries:
Feeling sad that you are too old to participate in Vacation Bible School? Don't be - we NEED YOU! Take time during VBS week (June 25-28  from 9 a.m. - noon) to step back to your preschool or elementary days and share some of your energy, enthusiasm, and spirit with kids. More importantly, young children are looking up to you, think you are great, and want to be like you. Create relationships that will last years by spending time with kids during VBS teaching, learning, and having fun together.
You can sign
up as a volunteer online by clicking here. We need to know you are coming so we can match you with the best job available, so please take the time to clear your calendar for June 25-28 and sign up today!  Additional VBS information is available at www.ucckids.org.
