Dear youth and parents,
I can't tell you how many people have expressed their appreciation for Youth Sunday and asked me to pass it along to all the youth and volunteers who participated. Just yesterday, a retired minister said that it may be the best one he's seen in roughly 65 youth Sundays over the years! Alison, Jessica, and I all agree with those sentiments. We were so impressed with everyone at every stage of the process: from those first couple of youth group meetings to plan and put together the service, to the rehearsal, to the two worship services themselves. We are blessed to work with such an incredible group, and we are thankful that so many people shared their gifts with the congregation. Jessica Vacketta's ordination to ministry this Sunday
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Following her graduation from Brite Divinity School, Jessica Vacketta will be ordained to Christian ministry this Sunday, May 12 at 3 p.m. in our Sanctuary. Please make plans to attend this meaningful worship service that recognizes Jessica's accomplishments and calling to serve as an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). A reception will follow the service in the Gallery.

Registration deadline for summer camps this Sunday!

Remember that UCC is covering $100 of the registration cost for those who register early for 6th-12th grade camps (already reflected in the documents above), and additional full or half scholarships are available to cover the early-bird price if needed. The registration deadline is this Sunday, May 12, so be sure to complete your form, turn it in to Sharyn Peterson in the youth office, and have a great time at camp this summer!

Space still available on mission trips to Memphis and Houston
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~ Registration flyers for our summer youth mission trips are now available! Here's the skinny on both trips:
The Chi Rho Mission Trip to Houston for grades 6-8 will take place June 9-12. The group will be working at the Houston Food Bank for several days and cooling off at Schlitterbahn Water Park in Galveston at the end of the trip. Cost is $175 per person and full or half scholarships are available upon request. Full details are available on the registration flyer.
The CYF Mission Trip to Memphis for grades 9-12 will take place June 30 - July 6. The group will be working at several inner city agencies, touring Rhodes College, and visiting several cultural attractions in the area (including the National Civil Rights Museum at the former Lorraine Motel). Cost is $350 per person and full or half scholarships are available upon request. Full details are available on the registration flyer.
If you're ready to sign up, simply turn in your registration flyer and $50 deposit to Sharyn Peterson in the youth office and we'll see you in the trip!

Youth end-of-the-year pool parties coming on May 19
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~
Our middle and high school youth will have end-of-the-year parties on Sunday, May 19 from 6-8 p.m. at host homes. Both parties will include swimming, games, and good food. Mark your calendar, and watch the e-news next week for more details on where to be and what to bring!

Latte with the Ladies this Saturday at The Cup on Camp Bowie
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 
Latte with the Ladies, a monthly intergenerational gathering for women at a local coffee shop, will be this Saturday, May 11. Ladies of all ages are invited to gather at The Cup (3909 Camp Bowie Blvd) between 9 and 11 a.m. for tasty beverages and informal conversation. Invite a friend and drop in this Saturday morning!
