Garage Sale raises nearly $10,000 for camp scholarships
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~ This year's Youth Garage Sale raised just shy of $10,000 to provide summer camp scholarships that make our programs at Disciples Crossing more affordable for participants. Thanks to everyone who volunteered leading up to and during the sale, and especially to co-chairs Cyrena Allen and Kellie Morton and volunteer coordinator Robin Nelson. Your hard work will have a profound impact on the lives of our young people through UCC's camp and conference ministries!
"Just Say Know" sexuality curriculum training this weekend
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do you wi sh our church was doing more to educate our youth and children about sexuality from a Disciples perspective? Heard about the incredible experience our kids have at Eighter's Camp, but wish it was part of a long-term education plan? Good news! UCC is hosting a training event tonight and tomorrow that will certify many of our staff and lay leaders to teach CLER Ministries' "Just Say Know" sexuality education curriculum. After the training event, we will be able to offer three different age-appropriate classes designed for upper elementary, middle school, and high school students, and we will be authorized to continue training additional instructors "in house" using videos from CLER.
Youth and children's ministries will work together to incorporate these classes into our long-range curriculum so that they are offered on a regular basis (most likely every other year). Keep your eyes open for the first round of classes next year, and read more about the different age-level courses and what they include by clicking here or watch a video description by the trainers here.

Buy a Disciples Crossing shirt and support a great cause
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From Lindsay Puckett, UCC junior and TBA Youth Ministry Council member:
Disciples Cros sing, our church camp in Athens, has provided hospitality for camping and retreat ministries for 65 years. The Future Is Now Capital Campaign will shift Disciples Crossing into a new vision for the future by building a Gathering Center that will seat 300 and a Spiritual Renewal Center that provides hotel-style accommodations that suit even more groups and events.
You can support this capital campaign by purchasing a Disciples Crossing t-shirt (back view pictured to the left). All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to the Future Is Now Capital Campaign to help reach the goal.
Click here for an order form to get your t-shirt(s), or visit the Disciples Crossing website for capital campaign photos, details, and an online donation link.
