Dear youth and parents,
I returned to the office on Tuesday night after four weeks of paternity leave and have
been slowly but surely catching up on the things that awaited me at church. Thanks to everyone for your well wishes and for your patience as the staff covered for me. Between Disciples Class baptisms/confirmations and registrations for camps and missions trips, there has been a LOT that I usually do that has been covered by Alison, Jessica, Sharyn, and many other staff and volunteers. I appreciate all of them going above and beyond to keep things moving forward, and I'm glad to be back with you at UCC.
This is a big weekend, with Disciples Class baptisms and confirmations beginning on Sunday in our worship services and Camp Registration Day in Fellowship Hall on Sunday morning and evening. Read on for information on those events, some last minute needs for the Garage Sale, a special Service Sunday, and t-shirts that support Disciples Crossing!

Register for Disciples Crossing summer camps this Sunday
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember that UCC is covering $100 of the registration cost for those who register early for 6th-12th grade camps (already reflected in the documents above), and additional full or half scholarships are available to cover the early-bird price if needed.
The easiest way to register for camps and mission trips will be our Camp Registration Day - this Sunday, April 7. Sharyn Peterson will be set up in Fellowship Hall from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and again from 6-7 p.m. with plenty of blank registration forms and tally sheets. Registering that day ensures that you make the early bird deadline, up to $130 off the regular registration price (in addition to the $100 UCC covers). You can also take this opportunity to sign up for youth mission trips and to volunteer at Vacation Bible School (June 25-28). Mark your calendar and we'll see you Sunday!

Registration open for mission trips to Memphis and Houston
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~ Registration flyers for our summer youth mission trips are now available! Here's the skinny on both trips:
The Chi Rho Mission Trip to Houston for grades 6-8 will take place June 9-12. The group will be working at the Houston Food Bank for several days and cooling off at Schlitterbahn Water Park in Galveston at the end of the trip. Cost is $175 per person and full or half scholarships are available upon request. Full details are available on the registration flyer.
The CYF Mission Trip to Memphis for grades 9-12 will take place June 30 - July 6. The group will be working at several inner city agencies, touring Rhodes College, and visiting several cultural attractions in the area (including the National Civil Rights Museum at the former Lorraine Motel). Cost is $350 per person and full or half scholarships are available upon request. Full details are available on the registration flyer.
Remember that this Sunday, April 7 is Camp Registration Day, so be sure to turn in the completed registration flyer and $50 deposit along with summer camp forms this Sunday to save your spot on one of our mission trips. You can download a tally sheet here to help you calculate costs in advance.

Last minute needs for the upcoming Garage Sale!

Spring cleaning time is here, so let UCC help you clean out your house for a good cause! Donate your items to the UCC Garage Sale benefitting our youth program. Preview sale is Friday, April 12 from 4-7 p.m. and sale day is Saturday, April 13 from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Please bring your donations by this Sunday, April 7. Large item pick-up will be available through Sunday (though we cannot accept large appliances). Please consider donating your tax-deductible items and/or your time.
NEEDS: We are still in need of many volunteers, both youth and adults! We can use any adults who can help us move items (including furniture) into Fellowship Hall this Sunday evening during youth groups (6:30-7:45). For youth who volunteer during the week and/or the sale, they can earn up to 6 hours of credit for camps and trips. Additionally, all volunteers who work at least 3 hours can get in free to the Preview Sale on Friday. If you can't come work, we still need people to bring food to the volunteers every day from Monday-Saturday. We also need clothes hangers of all types, especially ones with clips.

We need YOU for Youth Service Sunday this Sunday night

This Sunday evening during youth groups (6:30 - 7:45 p.m.) we will be holding a "Service Evening." There will be a variety of things we will be doing such as working in the community garden, staining tables for the youth rooms, and moving garage sale items into Fellowship Hall. Please wear clothing that can get dirty. We need all of the help we can get, so put on some comfy clothes and come help us make a difference in the life of our church on Service Sunday!

Buy a Disciples Crossing shirt and support a great cause

Disciples Cros sing, our church camp in Athens, has provided hospitality for camping and retreat ministries for 65 years. The Future Is Now Capital Campaign will shift Disciples Crossing into a new vision for the future by building a Gathering Center that will seat 300 and a Spiritual Renewal Center that provides hotel-style accommodations that suit even more groups and events.
You can support this capital campaign by purchasing a Disciples Crossing t-shirt (back view pictured to the left). All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to the Future Is Now Capital Campaign to help reach the goal.
