Dear youth and parents,

I'm enjoying a relaxing week at my parents' house in Virginia where Bell has been playing with her cousins and I've met my newest niece for the first time.  Though it's been a laid back week, I thought that writing the youth e-news might help me relax even more!  Jessica and Alison will both be back at church on Sunday (Jessica is preaching on Sunday night!) and I will look forward to seeing you after we return on Monday.  Read on for details on parking for the Armed Forces Bowl tomorrow, schedule changes over the holiday break, and more.

Grace and Peace,
Russ

Football parking fundraiser: Armed Forces Bowl tomorrow!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Armed Forces Bowl logoUCC youth and parents have one more opportunity to raise money for the youth ministry, handbell choirs, and their own camp/trip accounts: The Armed Forces Bowl, held at TCU's Amon G. Carter Stadium tomorrow (December 29).
Since this is not a TCU game, there is no reserved parking and all of our lots are simply $20 per space on gameday.  Kickoff is at 10:45 a.m., and we'll start parking cars at 8:30 a.m. and stop when the lots are full.  Each individual and family member who parks earns $50 per hour worked to use toward trips, camps, and other church events, so be sure to show up at 8:30 if you'd like the maximum benefit!
Improve our camp at the Disciples Crossing work weekend
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bell at Disciples Crossing

Want to share your time, energy, and talent to improve Disciples Crossing, our church camp in Athens?  Come to the first annual Disciples Crossing work weekend! You can choose to attend as an individual, family, Sunday School class, or other group to help the camp prepare for one of the busiest summers of camps and conferences. Work day projects will include (but are not limited to) painting, staining, replacing flooring, pouring concrete slabs, replacing rotten siding, installing new tin on ceilings, building a boat shed, installing lighting on a basketball court, and clearing walking trails. Regardless of your age or skill level, there's a project for you!

The work weekend will take place February 15-16 (Friday-Saturday) and the $75 registration cost covers meals, overnight lodging, and work supplies. You may also register to attend Friday or Saturday only for $35 per person. Once registrations are in, we will organize a carpool of UCC participants to make it easier for everyone to get to and from camp.  Ready to register?  Click here to download a registration form. Questions about the work weekend? Contact Beth Morris, TBA Youth Minister, at 817-831-4442 or moonriver27@att.net.

Our 9th and 10th grade youth created a video over several Sunday school classes that teaches a lesson about the joy of giving.  Click the image below to take a look at the fruits of their labor, and feel free to share it with others!
