---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear youth and parents,
This Sunday evening is the annual Hanging of the Greens service, a highlight for many in our congregation that kicks off the season of Advent and gets everyone in the holiday spirit. This year's service will take place at 6 p.m. and, in addition to hanging the greenery and symbolic decorations in the sanctuary, will feature familiar carols, music from our youth bell choirs, a children's moment around the tree, and a solo from Nate Hubble (music director for The Search).
Leadership for this service is entrusted to our youth, and it takes MANY middle and high schoolers to process and hang the greenery. If you are available to help, please come to the Sanctuary at 4 p.m. so that we can rehearse carrying and hanging the greenery throughout the Sanctuary. If you'd like a speaking part, come at 3 p.m. and we'll assign one to you and give you ample time to rehearse with the other speakers before the greenery enters the picture. This is a fun, festive service and I hope to see you there!
Read on for more information about the service, volunteering for our final TCU parking fundraiser, the upcoming CYF Lock-in, and more!
Grace and Peace, Russ

30+ volunteers needed for parking fundraiser Saturday a.m.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~ The final TCU home football game is this Saturday, December 2 and it's a doozy. The University of Oklahoma will be coming to Amon G. Carter Stadium, and there will be a swarm of fans looking for a place to park. For the modest fee of $30 our church can be that place! This game has an 11 a.m. kickoff, which means we will need volunteers starting at 7 a.m. If you're available to help with the eariler shifts, please come out and help! The funds we raise are a huge benefit to the youth ministry and youth handbell choirs, and each hour worked also earns $50 per hour per family member for camps, trips, and other church events. If three people from your family work two hours each, that's $300 in credit!We need volunteers in the following shifts (again, those early ones are critical):
7:00 a.m. - 8 people (min. 3 adults) for a 2-hour shift at the reserved lots 9:00 - 8-10 people for a 2-hour shift
10:00 - 4-6 people for remaining band parking and finish cash lots
10:30 - 4 people (2 must be adults) for a 2-hour shift at the reserved lots
If you're available for any of these shifts, show up at UCC and sign in at the table in the small north parking lot (by the playground and dumpster). If you have additional questions about this fundraiser, please email Mike Morton at m_morton@sbcglobal.net .
All youth on deck! Hanging of the Greens this Sunday evening
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~ The annual Hanging of the Greens worship service will be led by our middle and high school youth this Sunday, December 2. This year the festive service that decorates our sanctuary will begin at 6 p.m. Youth who would like a speaking part should be present in the sanctuary at 3 p.m. to rehearse, while all other youth should arrive by 4 p.m. to practice processing and hanging the greenery. This service requires 50+ youth, so we need you if you're available this Sunday!If you purchased a long-sleeved Hanging of the Greens t-shirt last year, plan to wear it. All participants who don't already have a Hanging of the Greens shirt will be given one to wear during the service. Participants can keep the shirt for only $10, and extra shirts will be available for the general public to purchase for $15. Click here to see the shirt design. |
