Here's a sampling of what I've been working on lately for my clients:
- Ray Frew, CEO of Green Hills Memorial Park and a Vietnam veteran, was featured on a CBS TV national news segment on Memorial Day weekend. For 30 years, Ray and his daughter Jennifer have presented one of the most moving Memorial Day Observances in the nation. Highly recommended and well worth the trip to the South Bay.
- Media promotion for "Friggin' Bean Counters," a new business ebook from CPA and IT expert Karla Sasser. A treat for the title alone, but it's an excellent primer for IT pros on how to achieve higher project success rates by leveraging the knowledge of the accountants they work with. Available at Amazon.com.
Book 'Em Looking for a good read? This month I recommend: "She's Leaving Home" and "The Kings of London"
by William Shaw
(Mulholland Drive / Little, Brown and Company) It's peak summer reading season, so this month I offer a double selection, the first two novels in the "Breen and Tozer" detective series by British journalist William Shaw. The setting is London in the Swinging Sixties, when rock music, pop art and drugs were stirring a revolution in British culture. Detective Sergeant Cathal "Paddy" Breen is an odd duck on his murder squad, teased for his Irish heritage as well as his dedication to actually solving murders that his colleagues would rather set aside for a trip to the pub. Not that Breen is above a drink or three, but he's a policeman first. Breen's edgy younger sidekick is Temporary Detective Constable Helen Tozer, an English country girl trying to make it as a detective. In an era when policewomen were a novelty and not even allowed to drive police cars, Tozer is a challenge to her colleagues and an inspiration to Breen. While the mysteries and plot twists are more than serviceable, what sets these novels apart is Shaw's masterful portrait of London as the great city moves through one of its most tumultuous and exciting eras.
