PROJECT BACKGROUND
FirstNet

The PNWER CRDR, partnering with WSU's DGSS, is supporting the Washington State OneNet Program Office in contacting a wide range of public and private organizations to seek your input on a new national program called FirstNet.

Washington is in the process of educating stakeholders about the initiative and seeking input on the design and future of the program for our state. The intent of FirstNet is to provide a nationwide wireless broadband network dedicated to first responders and associated disciplines and organizations that provide services during emergencies and disasters.  These digital services are also targeted towards the public and private owners and operators of critical infrastructure.

By attending the FirstNet Workshop you will:
  • Gain an understanding of FirstNet and its capabilities
  • Understand general operating concepts for the system when it is built
  • Learn how you can participate in the design of the new FirstNet system here in Washington State
  • Get an opportunity to ask questions about the system and be able to interact at the workshop with other organizations who will have access to the new system
Access Pass

Economic recovery after a disaster depends on businesses gaining access to impacted areas to restore services. The CRDR is working with the Washington State Emergency Management Division (EMD) to obtain stakeholder input on effective solutions for providing authorized personnel access to their facilities and critical infrastructure following a disaster.

Kevin Burke, Private Industry Program Manager, for EMD has developed a conceptual solution to the access issue.  By participating in the Access Control portion of the workshop you will:
  • Receive a briefing on the conceptual access control system that has been drafted
  • Have the opportunity to understand the operational concepts for this system.
  • As individuals and organizations, provide feedback on the conceptual system to refine it and ensure it is functional to meet the needs of public safety and those wishing controlled access into disaster areas.
