The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER) invite you to join us for a high-level, off-the-record, invitation-only, intensive Roundtable on North American Arctic Marine and Intermodal Corridors and Sustainable Resource Development.

This exclusive event will take place at the Sutton Place Hotel in downtown Vancouver, BC on January 29-30, 2015 following the Mineral Exploration Roundup Conference in Vancouver, BC. The meeting will begin with an informal working dinner on Thursday, Jan. 29, followed by an all day session on Friday, Jan. 30.

Confirmed participants to our Roundtable include high-level executives from Canadian and American shipping and resource companies; political leaders and senior officials from Alaskan and Canadian territorial and provincial governments; and senior officials from key federal departments including Transport Canada, Canadian and American Coast Guards and others.


We are particularly pleased to let you know that Mr. Ari Siren, the Head of the Barents Euro-Arctic Council (BEAC: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia) International Secretariat will be attending our meeting. He will speak to us about BEAC's impressive and successful experience in facilitating Northern European Arctic cooperation to advance regional economic and infrastructure development as well as potential lessons for North American Arctic cooperation (particularly in the Beaufort area) between Alaska and Canada's Arctic Territories.

We are also pleased to let you know that an expert Advisor to the Canada Transportation Act Review panel led by David Emerson will be attending our meeting. The CTA Review panel is exploring long-term transportation challenges and opportunities in the Canadian Arctic, among other issues.
