PNWER will host the Winter Meeting in conjunction with two other conferences, including the Converge@Seattle Innovation Summit and an Invasive Species conference. Several of our working groups will also meet, including Ocean & Energy, Transportation & Market Access, Workforce, and Energy & Environment. A special session, Disaster Resilience for Legislators, will also be held during the Winter Meeting. Read more about these sessions below!
>>> Disaster Resilience for Legislators

>>> Converge@Seattle Innovation Summit

>>> Building a Regional Defense Against Quagga and Zebra Mussels
Quagga and zebra mussels are the most economically damaging aquatic organisms to invade the United States. They are not yet in the Pacific Northwest Because of the threat posed by these invasive mussels to the Northwest, there is a compelling need to define and implement a region-wide prevention and response strategy.
>>> Transportation & Market Access
Many of our region's ports are operating well below capacity, while our inland resources are rapidly expanding and facing challenges in getting product to ports. This session will examine port operating trends (ex. some moving to bulk shipments vs. containers) and potential opportunities to expand operations. We will also take a look at multi-modal transportation challenges and opportunities, focusing on rail, barge, trucking and new possible areas for investment in infrastructure to increase trade flow.
