Whether you were able to join us for the first of these exercises, or this is your first invitation, your participation is key in helping to define post-disaster recovery requirements, identify where requirements might compete with one another, and recognize where these requirements leave critical gaps.
Snohomish County Post-Disaster Regional Recovery Workshop #2

Communities facing disaster are often challenged by forging relationships and coming together for the common good.  We only need to look at New Orleans; Biloxi, Mississippi; Joplin, Missouri; and the Jersey Shore to see things can go bad, but it is the resilient community that prospers.

Disaster recovery depends on all of us building a high level of community trust fostered by not only government but individual, organizational, and business participation.  Building trusted relationships before something happens can facilitate coordination and cooperation for the mutual benefit of citizens in our community.

The goal of these workshops is to identify recovery priorities, gaps, and requirements leadingto the development of a recovery "game-plan" to speed recovery and improve the resilience ofthe county with enhanced partnerships between the public and private sectors.

This workshop, the second of three, will help participants understand post-disaster recovery requirements, identify where requirements might compete with one another, and recognize where these requirements leave critical gaps.

Who should attend: Public and private sector organizations, non-profit organizations and community-based groups, institutions and other organizations that play a role in supporting the long term health of our local economy, population, and culture who want to better understand and define their role in post-disaster recovery.

This innovative series is funded through the Regional Catastrophic Planning Grant Program (RCPGP), a FEMA initiative comprised of eight Puget Sound counties. With RCPGP support, Snohomish County is taking a leading role in developing new recovery strategies to share with other regional partners across the Puget Sound. We hope you will join us for this important event.
