Thank you to all our delegates for contributing to a successful Capital Visit and Arctic Roundtable in Yellowknife!

PNWER recently held a Capital Visit in Yellowknife on November 18-19.  As part of the visit, PNWER hosted an Arctic Roundtable meeting with public and private sector leaders in the region. Participants got the opportunity to learn more about the Circumpolar Business Forum and the work currently underway at Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor).  Mitch Bloom from CanNor gave an impressive overview of the forum and the timeline for the project. This roundtable was the beginning of deeper discussions the region should have when it comes to sustainable economic development. Click here to read the summary from the roundtable.

PNWER participants also had the chance to join a roundtable hosted by the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) to learn more about Arctic Maritime Transportation on November 17.  Subject matter experts from Canada spoke about the opportunities and challenges of developing the transportation corridors in the North.

Special thanks to the Government of the Northwest Territories for supporting this meeting and showing the PNWER delegates great hospitality.  Also, thanks to John Higginbotham for allowing PNWER to partner with the CIGI roundtable.  The PNWER Arctic Caucus brings together public and private sector leaders from the Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska and our other northwest leaders to address issues of importance to the development of the North.
