U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski speaks at the opening reception of the 23rd Annual PNWER Summit. The Senator gave a powerful and persuasive speech on "being part of an Arctic nation." For more photos from today, please see our Facebook page

"Let's work with our neighbors to develop solutions. That's what purpose PNWER serves."
- U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski

We sincerely hope you enjoyed the first day at the 23rd Annual PNWER Summit!

Tomorrow, the opening breakfast will feature a discussion on Arctic Challenges and Opportunities featuring John Higgenbotham, Senior Distinguished Fellow, Carleton University; Hugh Short, CEO, Platinum Advisors; and Teresa Imm, Vice President of Resource Development, Arctic Slope Regional Corporation. This session, moderated by Alice Ragoff, Publisher and Owner of the Alaska Dispatch Publishing will be an excellent opportunity for delegates to learn about the Arctic and how it affects all the PNWER jurisdictions.

Following breakfast, we will head straight to the buses for the 26 Glacier Cruise for a networking event and opportunity to experience Alaska's beautiful glaciers. Please wear warm casual layers and comfortable shoes for the cruise, and don't forget your camera!

We will go straight from the cruise to the Alyeska Resort for an evening reception hosted by Shell. If you are not going on the cruise, buses to the Alyeska will leave from the Marriott at 5:30pm.

Miss Alaska Teen USA 2012, Veronica Temple, sang a moving rendition of the U.S. and Canadian national anthems.
