PNWER is delighted to announce that U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski will speak during the opening reception of the 2013 Summit! Murkowski is the first Alaskan-born Senator and only the sixth United States Senator to serve the state. The state's senior senator, Lisa Murkowski is a third-generation Alaskan, born in Ketchikan and raised in towns across the state: Wrangell, Juneau, Fairbanks and Anchorage.

At the PNWER Summit, you will have the opportunity to network with prominent leaders in business and government from across the region. This includes Alaska Governor, Sean Parnell, who will keynote the Tuesday lunch. Governor Parnell aggressively works to make Alaska competitive for economic growth by lowering taxes, streamlining regulations, and building infrastructure. Parnell was elected as lieutenant governor in November 2006, became governor in July 2009, and was re-elected November of 2010.

Sign up now for the Northern Development Tour July 11-14, which includes visits to Fairbanks, Healy and Denali National Park. This exciting pre-summit tour begins in Fairbanks and will feature the morning of July 12. All participants for this tour should plan to arrive in Fairbanks the evening of July 11. The trip will feature visits to the Flint Hills Refinery, BESS (Battery Energy Storage System), Alaska Center for Energy and Power, Fort Knox Gold Mine, and Eva Creek Wind Project before the group stops in Healy, Alaska for the night. The next day will include tours of the Healy Clean Coal Project and Usibeli Coal Mine before ending in beautiful Denali National Park. On Sunday, participants will enjoy a visit to the Denali Education Center to learn more about the local wildlife before journeying to Anchorage in time for the Opening Reception. The cost is $500.
