Parent Engagement Survey Available


Pine Tree ISD believes it is important that parents, teachers and administrators work together as a community to support and ensure the success of every student who walks the halls of the Pine Tree campuses. 

"It is critical we hear from the parents and guardians of our students," said Dr. TJ Farler, Superintendent. "We have designed a Survey for Parent Engagement, to collect information that will help us to meet our goals for continuous improvement."

 The survey is open THIS WEEK....Don't Delay!  Deadline is Friday, March 24th, and available in English and Spanish, online or in paper version.



Calendar Approved for 2014-2015

The 2014-2015 Academic Calendar was approved at the regular School Board meeting in February.



PTHS Advanced Theatre Performs One Act Production for Public



Pine Tree High School will perform the drama, Fuddy Meers, by David Lindsay-Abaire, for the UIL One Act Play competition. 

The public is invited to see the Pine Tree HS Theatre's production of Fuddy Meers before UIL One Act Play District Competition on Thursday, March 20, 7pm.  Tickets are $2 for students and $5 for adults, available at the door.  Read more.





Trustee, Terre Dunn, Represents PT at Program on Community Engagement


Terre Dunn -from Pine Tree ISD - was among a group of school board members gathering in Corpus Christi February 27-March 1 to learn the latest on 21st century challenges to leadership and the implications of those trends for educators. Session theme for this, the third of five training sessions of Leadership TASB, was "Where Leadership Happens through Community Engagement."  




PT Students Soar to New Heights during LeTourneau University's "Women in Aviation" Event


For Victoria and Ainsley, it was no ordinary Thursday. Instead of school that afternoon, they ventured into the sky in a Cessna C-172R.  The sixth-grade girls had never considered aviation as a career option, so in honor of Women of Aviation Week, LETU flight instructor Lee Foster introduced them to the thrill of being a pilot.   Read more.

The video was created with everyone on the campus participating as a part of a Penguin Project that was showcased at the Primary School.  It was also presented at the Innovation Showcase March 18th.

Pine Tree High School Band Taking Record Numbers to State UIL Competition

 
Mark Melton, Director of Fine Arts, is pleased to announce that a record number of band students to competition this year; 81 band students have qualified for Texas UIL State Solo & Ensemble contest, to be held May 24th in Austin, TX.

Most of those students will be competing in more than one event, which is comprised of solos, ensembles, and twirling competitions. "Many of these students take private lessons and put in extra time before and after school in order to succeed in solo & ensemble competition," said Melton.  "We are very proud of the extra effort and discipline they demonstrate to accomplish their personal best."

In order to qualify for state competition, a student must have made a 1st division on a Class I solo that was performed from memory, an ensemble, or twirling event at the Region level.

Pine Tree High School Hosts UIL Regional Competition

Pine Tree High School was honored to host the UIL Region IV Band Solo & Ensemble contest on February 7, 2014. Twenty-five schools were in attendance, with an estimated 800-900 students, directors, judges, and volunteers that assimilated on the High School Campus.

"This was a district-wide effort," says Mark Melton, Director of Fine Arts, "We coordinated efforts with the UIL music department, the Band staff and boosters, the High School staff, band students, the Transportation department, and the Facilities Services department in order to pull this off," he said.  "It was a real team effort!" 
 
 

PT 5th Grade Student Headed to 

State with Science Project

PT Middle School student, Stephen Geist earned high marks at the 2014 East Texas Regional Science Fair (ETRSF), which was held Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, in the Devall Student Center Ballroom on the campus of Kilgore College. Stephen Geist was honored for his project, which was one of four presented from the Pine Tree Middle School students who participated.  Read more.

Young American Creative Patriotic Art 

First Place Award Earned at PTHS

PTHS senior student, Curtis Ragatz has earned 1st place in the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Award contest sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary Post 1183 VFW of Longview. Curtis' art will go on to district competition and may qualify for other awards including state or national recognition.  Read more.
