SCHOOL SAFETY IS A PRIORITY
The first semester is behind us, and we are headed into the second semester of school with great care for our students. I have been asked about what PTISD is doing in regards to school safety. I want to assure parents that safety for students and staff is a top priority. We began working with architects, PBK, last fall to improve campus security and access. We have walked each campus with an architect who has provided options for improving the entrances/access to the campuses during the school day and have presented these options to the Trustees in February along with a budget to implement the improvements.
In addition, we are working with Principals to review the campus emergency response plans and will conduct additional training for the office staff/campus staff. We have also had a security audit conducted on each campus during the first two weeks of January. We will complete security audits on the other district facilities (transportation, facility services, central administration, etc.) in the next month and plan training for the staff at these facilities. One of the most important things you can do for the children and future of Texas is to keep a watchful eye on the Legislature.
Why? If you are a parent of a student in public schools it may seem obvious, but if you are a resident of Texas and a taxpayer it is also important. The reason is simple - legislators haven't been acting in the best interest of the children of this state and that will have a direct impact on the growth and progress of Texas. Read more
