Grantmaking for LGBTQ communities still comes from a small set of dedicated funders. Through their direct grant dollars and philanthropic advocacy efforts, these funders play an important leadership role in advancing the awareness and inclusion of LGBTQ issues in philanthropy and improving LGBTQ people's lives. - The 2014 Tracking Report: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Grantmaking by U.S. Foundations
The 2014 Tracking Report explores the scope and character of foundation funding for LGBTQ issues in the calendar year 2014. The report finds that funding reached a record high of $153.2 million however, there are a number of sobering statistics behind the promising headlines. The report provides a new level of analysis on 100 of the top U.S. foundations and goes behind the numbers to analyze funding trends related to HIV/AIDS, how much money is leaving the field, and where funding may go post-Marriage.

- Elton John AIDS Foundation Announces Large Grants to Fight HIV/AIDS
This new series of grants totals more than $5.4 million to support organizations addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic in critical and innovative ways. This is the one of the Foundation's largest grant cycles to date, renewing 38 grants and funding 32 new organizations, and brings EJAF's total grant making for 2015 to over $9.8 million, a 40% increase over the Foundation's investments in 2014.

Colin Higgins Foundation (CHF) is currently accepting nominations from lesbian, gay, transgender, Two-Spirit, queer, and questioning youth activists through age 20 who have transformed their experiences with discrimination into opportunities to inspire others. research on lesbian health. Groundswell Fund has launched a Rapid Response Fund, a funding vehicle dedicated to moving resources quickly and strategically for unforeseen needs and opportunities. There will be no deadline or formal grant cycle for Rapid Response Fund grants. Grant requests may range from $5,000 -$30,000. The Sillerman Center for the Advancement of Philanthropy works to engage emerging and established members of the philanthropic community to drive social justice work forward. Generous U is a contest which helps promote that goal. Generous U awards a $10,000 Prize (and a runner up prize) to college students who propose ways of increasing philanthropy on their campus. - Boston Pride Grants Announced
Boston Pride announced the recipients of the first Boston Pride Community Fund. The fund was established to provide grants to small nonprofits & other groups that support the LGBT community.
- Brother, Help Thyself Surpasses $3 million in Grants Awarded at 2016 Ceremony
Brother, Help Thyself (BHT) awarded over $75,000 in grants to 23 organizations at its annual awards ceremony on Saturday, January 30, at Grand Central in Baltimore.
Now in its 38th year, the ceremony marked a significant milestone for the organization, which provides yearly infusions of grant money to local LGBT and HIV/AIDS nonprofits, as it surpassed the $3 million donation mark.
