  • "A New Model of Philanthropy"
    Mitchell Singer, Director at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and Treasurer for the Funders for LGBTQ Issues Board of Directors, pens an editorial on the importance of retaining the "joy of giving" in philanthropy.
  • "A River Gathering 'A-ha Moment!'"
    David Wertheimer, Deputy Director, Pacific Northwest Initiative at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, pens a Philanthropy Northwest blog post about the importance of not leaving behind the B's, T's and Q's in LGBTQ.
Requests for Proposals
  • Equity Foundation
    Equity Foundation is accepting proposals for their 2014 general grantmaking cycle. Proposals are due June 13.
  • Elton John AIDS Foundation
    The Elton John AIDS Foundation is inviting RFPs for its LGBTQ Community Initiative, a new funding initiative related to the HIV response in LGBTQ communities.  Proposals are due June 12.

Recent Grant Award Announcements

  • Ford Foundation
    The Ford Foundation has awarded $250,000 to the Gay-Straight Alliance Network for its Racial and Economic Justice Project.
  • New York State
    The New York State Legislature has adopted a budget that awards $100,000 to SAGE's LGBT Elder Veterans Initiative.
  • Trudeau Foundation
    The Trudeau Foundation has named its 2014 cohort of Trudeau Scholars, including two students whose research focuses on transgender issues, Jake Pyne and Ayden Scheim. 
  • Bikkurim
    Bikkurim has awarded $100,000 to Keshet, an organization working for the full equality and inclusion of LGBT Jews in Jewish life.
  • H. van Ameringen Foundation
    Philanthropist Henry van Amerigen has awarded a $100,000 matching grant to the Truth Wins Out for its new Center Against Religious Extremism.   
  • Open Society Foundations
    Open Society Foundations has awarded fellowships to 14 visionaries working to reform the criminal justice system in the United States, including Andrea Ritchie, executive director of Streetwise & Safe.
  • Wilbur May and Anita & Arnold Rosenstein Foundation
    Anita May Rosenstein has made the largest gift ever given by a living person to an LGBT organization.  The Wilbur May and Anita & Arnold Rosenstein Foundations have awarded $6.5 million to the newly rebranded Los Angeles LGBT Center.
