Exchange Students from Japan Experience Life at ACPHS
|
The College is currently hosting four Japanese exchange students from Showa and Hiroshima Universities (ACPHS has affiliation agreements with both universities and sends students to Showa on APPE rotations). Organized by the Office of Global Initiatives, the five week cultural exchange program includes visiting local healthcare facilities, attending ACPHS classes, and participating in an intensive English language program. The students, who are living on campus, also spend time exploring life in Albany by hiking in the Adirondacks and volunteering in the community. Earlier this year, the College hosted 11 students from EWHA Womans University in South Korea.

Physical Plant Staff Recognized for Commitment to College
|
The ACPHS Staff Council recently recognized the College's Physical Plant for its "constant dedication and commitment to keeping the college community safe and secure." The Council presented a special certificate of appreciation to Director of Physical Plant Tom DellaRocca at its last meeting. The letter accompanying the certificate noted Physical Plant's dedication to maintaining the parking lots and sidewalks during what was an especially harsh winter. The Council also commended Physical Plant staff for the many things they do to help keep the campus a welcoming, attractive place.

Chartwells Operation at ACPHS Named Center for Excellence
|
The dining operations at the Albany Campus have received a "Center for Excellence" designation by Chartwells, the campus' dining services provider. The recognition follows a rigorous one year review process. The Center for Excellence certification is reserved for Chartwells locations that demonstrate a dedication and commitment to providing the very best in quality and customer service. Chartwells has approximately 8,000 accounts in the U.S. and less than 1% have been recognized as Centers for Excellence.

Warm weather and good music go together like chips and salsa. So in recognition of Earth Day, we've put together a playlist of Earth Day inspired songs. Let's call them world records:
1. Neil Young - Rockin' in the Free World 2. Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World 3. Carole King - I Feel the Earth Move 4. USA for Africa - We Are the World 5. George Harrison - Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) 6. Supremes - My World is Empty Without You
7. Rolling Stones - Salt of the Earth 8. The Jam - This is the Modern World 9. Frank Sinatra - I've Got the World on a String
10. Big Audio Dynamite - The Globe
Plus anything by Earth, Wind, and Fire.
