Dear Alumni,
The fall semester is off to a great start!
The Office of Institutional Advancement is busy finalizing the details for the College's 2nd Annual Health + Wellness Expo on Saturday, September 28. This year's event is being held in conjunction with Family Weekend so there is sure to be a lot of activity on campus.
The day kicks off at 9 a.m. with the Mario Zeolla '97 5K Walk/Run. This event was a big hit last year and is a great way to honor Mario's memory and support the scholarship in his name.
At 11 a.m., ACPHS and MVP Health Care will offer a FREE CE Event (1 contact hour) in the Student Center, Lecture Hall 201. The program, entitled "How does your state of mind influence your health?", will be provided by ACPHS Assistant Professor Jacquelyn Canning, Pharm.D., BCPP.
The Expo runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes a medication take-back program, flu shot clinic, Zumba, yoga, blood drive, health screenings, and information from more than 40 health + wellness vendors.
We hope to see you there!
Regards,
Bill Jabour

ACPHS Welcomes New Students and Families
The College was buzzing on August 28 for the annual freshmen Move In Day. President Gozzo went door to door as he does each year to welcome our newest students and their families to the College. Everyone pitched in to lend a helping hand and to keep the day running smoothly. Good luck to the incoming class of 2013!

CE Event Explores Mind of An Addict
On September 9, the College hosted "Perfectly Broken," a special event held in partnership with the Addictions Care Center of Albany. The featured speaker was Mark Lundholm, a nationally recognized comedian and recovering addict, who described his journey through prescription drug abuse and how health care professionals were instrumental in his recovery efforts. Assemblymen John T. McDonald '85, David Kile '74, student leaders of APhA-ASP, and Assistant Professor Lauren Purington participated in the discussion that followed Mark's talk. Dr. Purington led the CE portion of the program which focused on the Neurobiology of Addiction. |
