On September 5, the College hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on its new synthetic turf athletic field just before the men's soccer team opened its home season against SUNY Delhi, beating them in an overtime win 2-1.
President Gozzo, together with members of the College's board of trustees, student athletes, faculty, staff, and special guests celebrated the event that marked the completion of the first phase of this $2.5 million project. Phase Two will add a rubberized running track, lights, a new scoreboard, long-jump pit, bleachers, press box, and signage, and is expected to be completed in 2013.

White Coat Ceremony Highlight
The College community inducted the newest "Student Pharmacists" into the professional pharmacy program at the White Coat Ceremonies on September 6 at the Vermont Campus and September 7 at the Albany Campus. Administrators, faculty, staff, students and families gathered to celebrate and congratulate the achievements of the newest P1's and set the course as they embark on the academic and professional development years of pharmacy program at ACPHS.

Vermont Volunteers Make a Difference
Twenty students from the Vermont campus volunteered their time to offer free blood pressure and blood glucose screenings at the Champlain Valley Fair in late August. The health assessments were sponsored by APhA. "We screened 109 people for blood glucose and 2 for blood pressure that day," says one student volunteer, Molly Trayah. With the help of a pharmacist and Kinney Drugs in Essex Junction, the team of volunteers supplied goodies bags containing coupons, hand sanitizer samples, toothbrushes and other health related items to the participants. Molly was happy to be involved. "The event was a huge success, especially given that it happened on the 2nd day of classes!"
ACPHS Featured in Latin Magazine
In an effort to be more widely known and build connections within the Latino community, the College recently contracted a two-month advertising campaign in Latino Magazine. Faculty members, Carmen Mojica and Carlos Feleder were featured separately in the Spring and Fall issues. Read their stories here.
