ADULT EDUCATION CLASS
   
We are excited to offer an adult education class that started January 10. Pastor Roger and Glenn Simon co-lead a reading and discussion of Tim Keller's sensational book, Prayer. Sign-up is requested. The course runs for a total of 11 weeks on Sunday mornings, starting at 8:55 am in Room 123 (first classroom on the right in the children's hallway).
24-Hour Prayer

We are going to have 24-hour prayer Ash Wednesday through Good Friday. We ask that you sign up and indicate if you are going to pray in the prayer room at church or remotely. You can pray at home, at work, on your lunch hour, at the park, in the library, etc. A prayer guide entitled "Seek God For The City" is available for a $1 donation.
Ash Wednesday Service
   
Join us for our February 10 Ash Wednesday Service, 7:00 pm. It will start our 45-day prayer challenge. Prayer sessions were made this week; let's double that for next week.
Super Bowl Party
   
Come join the Super Bowl Party this Sunday evening at Church at 5:00 pm. Bring a snack to share and join the fun!
Date Night
   
Spend the day with your SWEETHEART! The Burgers and Pollards will offer FREE childcare on Saturday, February 13 from 4:00 to 10:00 pm at the Burger house.  Drop the little ones off and take your sweetheart on a date! We will have activities planned to keep them busy. 
   
Kiddos will be served pizza/fruit/veggies/snacks around 6:00 pm. Contact Brian Burger or Jeff Pollard for more information and to RSVP.
Annual "By the Pound" Bake Sale!
   
Don't miss the Annual "By the Pound" Bake Sale! There will be a drawing for a sweet giveaway! Your contribution is greatly appreciated, so please make your favorite baked or confection foods. Remember, it's "By the Pound," so goodies should be individual, cup cakes, cookies, mini pies, brownies, blondies, cinnamon rolls, etc. Don't forget the gluten-free items.... Have fun and be creative! Goodies should be brought to the church Thursday by close of day or Saturday, February 13 between 4:00 and 6:00 pm as we set up. The event itself will be Sunday, February 14.
Garden News

Praise God, all the garden positions have been filled except one! We still have an opening for a Garden Co-leader. Margo Simon will be the Snack Coordinator, Kathy Russell the Cookbook Coordinator, and Ron Garrette the Construction Project Coordinator. Please sign up to help in one of these categories. Sign-up sheets will be out in the foyer after church.

February Forum for Women
    
Ladies, please join us for lunch following the morning service on February 21. Deerbrook Women's Ministries wants to hear your thoughts as we move forward in planning opportunities for building friendships and growing spiritually together in 2016. We will meet in the church sanctuary for lunch, fellowship, and a time of sharing to hear your ideas. Mark your calendars, we want to hear from you! 
Spring Prayer Retreat
Randy and Laura Horn will host a prayer retreat at Conception Abbey over the weekend of April 29-May 1. The focus will be on deepening our intimacy with God in prayer. Drawing upon Richard Foster's book, Prayer, Finding the Heart's True Home, we will experiment with the Prayer of Adoration, the Prayer of Rest, Meditative Prayer, and Contemplative Prayer. There will be extended time for prayer, though there will be some teaching as well. We will join the monks in the Abbey for evening prayers.
 
We will stay in a retreat center at the Abbey on Friday and Saturday nights. The cost is approximately $140, including meals. Some scholarships are available. If you are interested, please contact the church office right away so we can reserve rooms.
Volunteer/Ministry Opportunity
   
Meadow Lane Elementary is looking for us to volunteer. Here are 5 ways to help:
 
1) Sponsor "Girls on the Run," a positive self-esteem running club, preparing
     girls for maturity and to run a 5K.
2) Volunteer to organize their science lab inventory.
3) Volunteer to help reorganize their library books.
4) Help Deerbook create a gift basket for MLE's April carnival.
5) Become a "lunch buddy" or "reading buddy" to a student.

Registration for Church Camp, June 2017, continues. We need to register this far in advance in order to secure the rooms at the YMCA of the Rockies. However, if your plans change, you will get a refund of your deposit. See the information sheet for details.
