Sunday

This week's text is from Hebrews 5:11-6:3.

ADULT EDUCATION CLASS

We are excited to offer an adult education class that started January 10. Pastor Roger and Glenn Simon co-lead a reading and discussion of Tim Keller's sensational book, Prayer. Sign-up is requested. The course runs for a total of 11 weeks on Sunday mornings, starting at 8:55 am in Room 123 (first classroom on the right in the children's hallway).
Go Team

The Go Team meets following service on the Sunday closest to the 15th of each month. Join us this week, January 17, for our next time together.
Children's Ministry Luncheon

We will have a Children's Ministry Luncheon this Sunday (January 17) after service. We would love to get to know you and chat about our ministry. Come enjoy Soup, Salad, and Sandwiches. Sign up with Emily Wages or Amber Burger.
Garden of Eatin' Volunteer Opportunities

Please pray about and consider joining our garden ministry in one of these ways:
  • Co-Leader - Set up work days, work with KC Community Garden mentors, check on garden status, etc.
  • Event Planner - Set up garden activities (eg, Garden Sunset Service)
  • Produce Coordinator - Call people to clean and bag and/or deliver produce
  • Lean-to Construction - We need someone to build a new lean-to; perhaps a Scout or small group project
  • Canopy Construction - We need to build a canopy to protect the fruit bushes from birds.
For more information contact Laura Horn, 816-255-5835.

There will be a Garden Team Meeting, Sunday, January 24, right after church.

13th Annual Mayor's Breakfast

Deerbrook has a table at the 2016 Mayor's Character Breakfast on Thursday, January 21, 6:45 am - 9:00 am at John Knox Pavilion. This year's speaker is Dan Meers - the Chiefs' mascot, KC Wolf. If you would like to represent Deerbrook at this community event, please contact the church office.
Fit & Refit 2016

Are you interested in getting FIT in 2016? Deerbrook has several options for you to join other health-seekng people from our church and beyond to get in shape.

Interested in walking/running? Join an already existing group of walkers/runners. We meet on Saturday mornings at 7:15 at James A Reed Park. We walk/run 3 miles. It is an easy-paced group and a great time to connect with others!

Also, just starting is a Saturday morning yoga/stretching group. We meet at church at 8:30 for about an hour. Currently, the plan is to work to videos from the internet. It is a fun time to gather and just feel good.
