Fall Small Groups
 
Deerbrook has more than 130 people currently in small groups. This is a great way to get better connected, support each other in our journey, socialize, and learn. This is the 3rd week of the 6-week study. We encourage you to do the reading and participate with your small group.

The devotional and workbooks are available for $20.

Help Send a Work Group to Jamaica
Jamaica
A group of 10 adults, led by Nick & Emily Wages, will be traveling to Harmons, Jamaica Oct. 4-11 with the ministry Won By One.  They will be doing various work projects, including building houses.
 

Please support the team by praying for them as they prepare for their trip and while they are away from us and ministering.
Missionary Visit Next Month
Julio & Katie Isaza, who serve with Covenant World Missions in Medellin, Colombia, along with their two young sons, will be here October 16 - 18.  We will have a Friday night information session, a church trip to the zoo on Saturday afternoon, and a brief lunch on Sunday at noon. Please plan on getting to know the Isaza family and their story.
Baptism

We will celebrate a Baptism service on October 4. If you are interested in identifying yourself through baptism as a follower of Jesus, talk with Pastor Roger.
Annual Fall Youth Retreat
The Annual Fall Youth Retreat will be Friday, November 20 at 4:00 p.m. to Sunday, November 22 at 9:00 a.m.  It will be held this year at the Youth Front Camp West Retreat in Edgerton, KS.  Cost: $55 before October 31; $65 November 1 or later.  Reservations should be made with Preston.
Children's Ministry Hiring Team Update

  • Patricia announced that she will be with us through Nov 30th.
  • Debbie Dziurawiec is our Chairperson of the hiring team.
  • Our Deacon Council is forming the hiring team over the next 2 weeks.
  • While Rod Russell is serving in Jamaica on a missions trip, please contact Deacon Greg Barnette with any questions you may have about the team.
Wheels to Freedom
Please be in prayer for Randy and Laura Horn who will leave Oct 10 for a wheelchair placement trip in Romania. Working with Hope Haven International Ministries, they will help deliver wheelchairs to people in need.
Garden of Eatin'
We have harvested more than 1,500 pounds of produce this year from our church's community garden. In addition to some samples to the congregation through our First Fruits ministry, most of the produce has gone to Hope House, Pro Deo, and Coldwater here in Lee's Summit to feed hungry people.

If you have bags of leaves this Fall, please place them by the lean-to behind the garden for use as mulch -- paper bags only please, no plastic.
2017 Church Camp
Registration for Church Camp, June 2017, continues. This Sunday, see Angie Thurmond in the foyer for details or to register. We need to register this far in advance in order to secure the rooms at the YMCA of the Rockies. However, if your plans change, you will get a refund of your deposit. See the information sheet for details.
