Sunday

This Sunday we will discuss 1 John 2:28-3:10.

This passage has over a dozen assertions about our past, present and future.  It also comments on who we are, why Jesus came, and how we should live differently.

Youth Family Fun Movie Night
The Family Fun Movie Night is Monday, July 27 at 6:00 p.m.!  (We're hoping for a lot of families and no rain.)

We'll begin with a potluck dinner followed by a family kickball game & a movie, "When The Game Stands Tall."  There will be opportunity for discussion after the movie.  Contact Preston for additional details.

Summit Fest - Baseball & Soccer for Kids

Saturday, August 8 from 9:00 to Noon at Legacy Park

Liven up the "dog days" of summer at SummitFest, a morning of sports clinics for boys and girls age 8-12 led by pros from soccer and baseball.

SummitFest is a community effort of six Lee's Summit churches.  Our goal is to benefit Lee's Summit Social Services (LSSS) and the kids of our city.

Registration fees pay for event t-shirts and expenses, with more than 50% going to LSSS. The sponsoring churches receive no funds.  In addition to soccer and baseball instruction, our pro coaches will share about the importance of spiritual and ethical values.

Christmas in July at Pro Deo Youth Center

Once again, Pro Deo is having Christmas in July.  You have an opportunity to choose an ornament from the Christmas tree in our lobby and then donate the item listed for Pro Deo's fall programming!

Pro Deo Youth Center works with teens in the Lee's Summit community.  They desire for every teen to be loved, valued, and equipped for change.

They run an after school program with tutoring, counseling small groups, and life skills classes.

A Six-Week Study of Romans for Men

Romans, the 6th book in the New Testament, is the Apostle Paul's letter to the Christians in Rome.  It has been called Paul's "most important theological legacy."

We meet at Deerbrook on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.   Our first meeting was last night (July 22), but you are still welcome to join us next week.

Contact Dan Jones at jonesda@bv.com if if you have questions about the study.  To let us know if you are coming or if you would need to have childcare provided, contact Mark Wissel at m.c.wissel@gmail.com.
