WAKE Up and Read Children's Book Drive

March 1-31

Bring new and gently-used books for kids ages birth-12 to Marbles Corner Store during March, and get a special bookmark! Our goal is to collect 2,500 books to help WAKE Up and Read reach their goal of 40,000. Select books will be 20% off in Marbles Corner Store throughout the drive. Marbles Corner Store will be closed on Monday, March 3.

Ahoy matey! Pirates-in-practice and their grown-ups are invited to embark on an adventure together at Marbles! Learn how to work, play, walk and talk like a pirate. Hear the untold legend of how The Blue Marble shipwrecked on our shores. Create yer' custom flag and eye patch, hone yer' plank-walking skills and fuel up with a sea-worthy snack. A farmer's work is never done! Learn about life on a North Carolina family farm from sun-up to sun-down. Paint with produce, dig into soil science and get moving with barnyard fun! Join a local farmer for storytime at 2:30pm. Presented in partnership with the NC Soybean Producers Association and the NC Pork Council.

You can participate in two ways: Sign-up to display your family's project in one or both of our non-competitive fairs or simply explore others' creations and investigations. NanoDays

Nano Day!

Sunday, March 30 | 1-4 pm

Join us for a big day of tiny science! NanoDays is a nationwide festival about nanoscale science, engineering and technology. Meet nanoscientists from Duke University, NC State University and Triangle MRSEC as they share hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations on all things teeny-tiny. Plus see the unseen on the GIANT screen - tickets to Mysteries of the Unseen World 3D tickets all day in IMAX at Marbles are only $5 ALL day! Nano Day is part of the NC Science Festival.

Hockey Fun with the Carolina Hurricanes

Monday, March 31 | 1-3pm

Carolina Hurricanes staff members will be at the museum for hockey fun! Play around in the Canes inflatable slap shot booth and practice like a pro in the skills and drills zone full of sticks, pucks and goals.

4-Week Thursday Evening Series | 5:30-6:30pm

Gather together for this playful group time with action songs and finger play, followed by hands-on exploration where toddlers develop social, cognitive and motor skills in fun and creative ways.

Marbles STEM Play Corps is a group of middle school students who love science and enjoy inspiring young learners. Participants take part in hands-on science learning with content experts, visit STEM research facilities around the Triangle and work alongside Team Marbles educators to playfully engage younger kids in science play at Marbles and in the community.
