An Evening of Olympic Proportions
La Porte County Symphony Orchestra
Phil Bauman, Music Director/Conductor
When you hear the "Olympic Fanfare and Theme" by John Williams you will think you have been transported to London. Boosting tunes of classical grandeur, dance and imagination as well as a pops favorite sung by a talented soloist, the symphony's concert will be a simple excuse to sit by the shores of Lake Michigan and let the waves of symphonic music entertain you.
Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 7:00 p.m., the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra, directed by Philip Bauman will be performing a free concert in Michigan City Washington Park's Guy F. Foreman Bicentennial Amphitheater with a program titled "Olympic Adventures." Undoubtedly, the perfect way to spend a Sunday evening is at an outdoor concert featuring your orchestra. This event is sponsored by the Michigan City Enrichment Corporation and hosted by the City of Michigan City, Ron Meer, Mayor.
Be dazzled by Hoosier STAR Finalist Lauren Mazur as she reprises the zingy song in a flapper style that she performed as a 2011 finalist, Lippa's "Life of the Party".
Heroic adventures featuring water sports, gymnastics, dance, theater and synchronized bowing will take over the stage. Gold medal achievements from the stage and screen will include music from Fiddler on the Roof and music from Eric Korngold's The Sea Hawk. The 3 Ring Circus will be represented, you will see Russian Sailors Dance and Bohemian guests will celebrate with joy as they dance to the music from Semetena's The Bartered Bride.
Maestro Bauman's program would not be complete without an adventure-filled fantasy. To round out the event you can step onto the Titanic by James Horner.
Bring a lawn chair or a blanket or come relax on a bench of this recently updated facility to enjoy this free concert at 115 Lake Shore Drive, Michigan City, Indiana. Parking fees for Washington Park will apply. Sunday, July 15, 2012 7:00 pm
