Lutheran Elementary School Association Celebrating 10 Years as a Partner in Quality Lutheran Education

November,  2014
Greetings!

"In everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."  1 Thessalonians 5:18

Giving Thanks and Praise

Sue NahmensenWe are thankful for the material things that God has given us. We are thankful for our family and friends.  We are thankful for our Lutheran schools, our dedicated teachers and principals.  We are thankful for volunteers and for donors who support our mission. We are thankful for the families who send their children to Lutheran schools. We are thankful for the spiritual blessings that He has provided for us all through Christ. Only then, are we truly thankful.

We ask for your prayers to continue to bless all of our Lutheran educational ministries and for LESA as a partner in supporting quality Lutheran education in our community.  We wish you a Happy Thanksgiving, and may the many gifts of this blessed season be yours. Praise be the Lord!!

Giving Tuesday

As easy as Do Re Mi, as simple as 1...2...3...that's how easy GIVING should be!  The Lutheran Elementary School Association has joined #GivingTuesday to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday will inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support and help create a better world. Taking place December 2, 2014 the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. #GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national moment around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping. "We pray that everyone will give thanks for the blessings God has bestowed upon them and consider participating in #GivingTuesday with a gift to LESA to support children in our Lutheran schools," says Sue Nahmensen, CEO of the Lutheran Elementary School Association. Every gift to LESA will be matched 4:1 through matching gifts. Click here to donate.

Dr. Tim Elmore Packed the House

In September, Dr. Tim Elmore, nationally recognized author, speaker, and parenting expert, spoke to over 200 parents and 500 educators at two events at  Immanuel Lutheran School in Washington, Missouri, through a collaboration with LESA.  Dr. Elmore spoke to parents and educators about helping Generation iY (born in the 1990s) children become "authentic leaders."  His message relayed the challenges of raising children who have become overexposed to information through the Internet and other sources, and therefore underexposed to the real life experiences that create "authentic leaders."  Listeners were encouraged to provide real-life learning experiences through mentors and positive role models, activities such as family service projects, and allowing students to experience failure as a learning opportunity.  Given their exposure to the outside world, this young generation learns best through experiential, participatory, image rich, and connected lessons. Dr. Elmore's message was both a wake-up call for adults to deal with our children in more authentic ways, and inspiring that we can make a difference in raising our future leaders by guiding them to the tools they will need to be successful.

Thank you to Immanuel Washington for your hospitality!
