SHOP CHULA VISTA

Chula Vista is the second largest city in the county. We have a diverse community that sprawls from the scenic lakes and mountains to the picturesque bayfront. But Chula Vista is more than just a pretty community; we have unique shops and boutiques, colorful restaurants, major retailers and nationally recognized sports, arts and entertainment venues. To the hundreds of thousands of residents who reside in Chula Vista - we are not just a city - we are "home." Part of what makes this city your home, are our one-of-a-kind businesses, which are an integral part of Chula Vista's distinctive character.

This holiday season, we encourage you to support your home town businesses and "Shop Chula Vista Now." Support the merchants that are here for you and your family throughout the year. By keeping your shopping local, you are increasing Chula Vista's tax base, helping create local jobs, encouraging local prosperity and supporting businesses that are invested in our future.

What's the best part about shopping local? Chula Vista businesses are offering great discounts this holiday season! More than 150 Chula Vista stores, shops, restaurants, hotels, beauty salons, and other businesses are offering special "Shop Chula Vista Now" discounts. To find the latest deals and to download your incentive card, CLICK HERE or display the card on your smart phone at checkout.  Participating businesses range from Chick-fil-A, ARYA Cleaners and Cold Stone Creamery to Mouette, South Bay Bicycles and Venga Venga.

Remember, think local and Shop Chula Vista Now! Shopping locally not only saves you time and money, you are also contributing sales tax dollars, which in turn, provide city resources for parks, libraries, recreation activities, street maintenance, police, and fire.  Happy shopping!

ACT CHULA VISTA

We receive daily telephone calls at the City reporting pot holes, graffiti, large items in the street, etc. You can now report certain issues online 24/7 using ACT Chula Vista (formerly known as See, Click, Fix).  Non-emergency issues can be reported via your computer or smartphone and you can include a photograph to show us what the problem is.  ACT (Alert, Connect, Track) Chula Vista can be found on Google Play Store or iTunes and can also be reported on the City website, CLICK HERE.

A few examples of issues that can be reported using ACT Chula Vista include graffiti, potholes, dead animals, malfunctioning traffic signals, and abandoned vehicles.  Requests reported through ACT Chula Vista can provide location, description and photos.  The service is available in different languages and requests can be submitted anonymously.

Not only can you report an issue, but you can monitor it as well.  Once the issue is documented with ACT Chula Vista, the reporting citizen will receive a notification and tracking number.  The request is then automatically forwarded to the appropriate department for review.  Once the issue is addressed, the status will be updated and posted on ACT Chula Vista.  City staff will monitor ACT Chula Vista during normal business hours.

Recently, City staff received a thank you email after some potholes were repaired in a residential area in less than 48 hours after reporting via ACT Chula Vista.  Of course, not all issues can be addressed quite that fast, but using ACT Chula Vista will save you time and allow you to report issues at your convenience.  But if you still want to call and say hello to City staff, we're happy to talk to you!

CAST VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

If you have ever thought about serving your community as a volunteer, consider joining the City of Chula Vista CAST program.  Chula Vista's CAST - Citizen's Adversity Support Team - consists of volunteers trained to provide families of trauma victims with compassionate, supportive assistance.

Volunteers, on call 24 hours a day, every day of the year, are trained by professionals including police officers, firefighters, psychologists, and emergency room staff.  First responders summon CAST to a variety of emergency calls - serious motor vehicle accidents, murders, domestic violence, shootings and fires.  Since 1993, CAST members have responded to thousands of calls in the communities of Chula Vista, Bonita, and Imperial Beach.

The next training session begins in January and runs through mid-April 2015.   For more information, or to request an application, please contact Maria Zadorozny at (619) 691-5213 or EMAIL.
