Sept. 3, 2016 - "Be A Hero" Suicide Awareness Fun Run/Walk - Wear your best super hero attire for this fun run/walk to benefit the Carl "CJ" Richard Jr. Memorial Scholarship Organization. Sept. 14, 2016 - Italians in Louisiana History Talk - Alan Gauthreaux, author and history instructor, will give audience members a look into the Italian immigrant experience in Louisiana as he speaks on his book, Italian Louisiana: History, Heritage and Tradition. Gautreaux will discuss the Italian contribution to Louisiana's culture. Preceding the talk will be a brief presentation on the Italians of Jeanerette who operated business establishments during the early 1900s. A book signing will follow. This free program is suitable for an adult audience. Seating may be limited and taken on a first come, first serve basis. Sept. 16 - Dec. 1, 2016 - Hunt Slonem Exhibit - Exhibit of original art by internationally recognized artist Hunt Slonem. "Bayous, Birds and Butterflies" will feature several paintings from Mr. Slonem's Albania Plantation as well as some from other museums and private collections. Hunt Slonem will unveil the exhibit on Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. with a reception/lecture to follow at the Sliman Theater. Refreshments will be served.
