WHEN: June 13 - 17, 2016 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
WHERE: Shadows-on-the-Teche, 317 E. Main St., New Iberia, La.
DETAILS:
Campers will engage in many activities at the Shadows-on-the-Teche History Camp which will give them a glimpse of what life might have been like before they were born.
Campers will explore the past through learning about people, the natural environment and past pleasures with games, crafts and food. Learning will be disguised as fun activities. Yearly, campers are dressed in 19th century reproduction clothing and photographed. These photos will be sent home at the end of the week along with many craft projects. The camp is for children ages 6-11.
The five day camp will be held Monday, June 13 - Friday, June 17, 2016 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Each day, campers will experience seven different activities based on this year's theme, "Peeling Back the Layers of the Past." The week will culminate with an exhibit of campers' art projects inside the Shadows Visitor Center on Friday afternoon. Campers' parents and family are invited to attend this exhibit and reception.
An admission fee of $125 covers costs for the camp. A limited number of participants will be accepted (35-40 campers). Participants will continue to be accepted until all of these spaces are filled. Families should send in applications with a check to confirm the young person's registration by May 20.
