Window Wonderland is Getting an Ice Queen's Touch this Holiday Season!
Window Wonderland on KATC
New Iberia Window Wonderland
NEW IBERIA, LA --- Window Wonderland, Envision da Berry's holiday season creative community project, returns for its third year to delight local families and holiday shoppers in downtown New Iberia.

The project pairs local Main Street businesses together with local artists to decorate windows with gorgeous holiday themed decor in the style of New York City department store windows like Bergdorf Goodman or Bloomingdale's. This project has grown each year since its inception starting with eight artists, now aiming for 20 artists working on 20 windows.

"In five or so years, we ultimately want to reach a goal of 100 artists for 100 windows," said Phanat Xanamane, Envision da Berry's creative director.

Artists with diverse backgrounds ranging from fashion design, graphic, interior design, architecture, photography, set design and mixed media come together to do windows each year. This year's decorative theme will coincide with "Magic on Main has Frozen Over" playing with the very wintry, snowy and icy colors, as well as textures and subjects.

Envision da Berry is a 501c3 nonprofit with a mission to educate, celebrate, and inspire the creative potential of Iberia Parish through art and public engagement. The project brings local tourism and families with young kids down to the city's historic core to dwell in front of the fabulous storefront displays, inviting them to "shop small" at local businesses and experience other holiday events happening in the area.

There will be a series of volunteer and celebration activities included as part of the project. A schedule of events follows:

* EdB Team Work Day, Nov. 21, 9 a.m. - noon (volunteers needed)
* All Windows completed: Nov 26
* Shop Small Saturday: Nov 28, 9 a.m. - noon (volunteers needed)
* Ribbon Cutting & Walk-through with window artists before Magic on Main Parade: Dec 12, 5 p.m.
* Window decoration removal: Jan. 9, 9 a.m. - noon (volunteers needed)

Old Christmas and holiday decorations have been accepted for the project since its beginning in 2013. Decorations are recycled each year and the stock pile needs to grow bigger as the project expands. Items accepted include but are not limited to: ornaments, old artificial trees, wreaths, garland, lights, florals, gift wrapping, bows, festive gift boxes, etc. Drop off donations at NILA Gallery, 301 W. St. Peter St., New Iberia on Thursday, Friday and Sunday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. from now until Jan, 9, 2016.

The Iberia Industrial Development Foundation is serving as the fiscal agent, with Envision da Berry as sub-applicant for a $1,528 grant received from the Decentralized Arts Funding Grant made possible by the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State arts Council as administered by the Acadiana Center for the Arts.

Envision da Berry is taking cash donations to support this project. All donations are tax deductible and can be sent to Envision da Berry at 1505 S. Hopkins St., New Iberia, LA 70560 or can be made online via paypal at DaBerry.org or Paypal.com
