Magic on Main has frozen over: Celebrate the holidays!
New Iberia Magic on Main Christmas parade
New Iberia Magic on Main Christmas Parade
IBERIA PARISH, La. --- Take out the fur coats! This year, Iberia Parish will be under an ice queen's spell with a myriad of Magic on Main holiday events for the whole family during November and December.

November

Find unique gifts for your loved ones at the New Iberia Holiday Shoppe (Nov. 14), Delcambre's Winter Holiday Market (Nov. 19), Shop Small Day (Nov. 28) and the Christmas Shoppe (Nov. 29).

Iberia Parish's farmers markets will also sell holiday items. For dates, visit IberiaTravel.com. These great markets give you a fantastic opportunity to get your holiday shopping done early before the Christmas rush arrives.

Various Iberia Parish businesses will offer Shop Berry Frozen Deals throughout November and December to add to the great savings.

New Iberia's Historic Main Street will play host to Envision da Berry's "Window Wonderland" from Nov. 28 - Dec. 31. Storefront windows will display festive holiday themed decor in the style of New York City department store windows like Bergdorf Goodman or Bloomingdale's. This year's decorative theme will coincide with "Magic on Main has Frozen Over" featuring wintry, snowy and icy colors, textures and subjects.

We'll end the month with Sounds of the Season, a free Christmas concert by the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra (Nov. 29).

December

Come December, Iberia Parish has a multitude of events planned to make this holiday season memorable.

Travel to the Victorian Era when you tour the Joseph Jefferson Home decorated for the holidays at Jefferson Island Rip Van Winkle Gardens (Dec. 1- Jan. 5). Beginning Dec. 7, Shadows-on-the-Teche will be celebrating in a similar fashion with "merry making" tours. The home will be decorated in 19th century holiday style and tours will focus on family celebrations of the time.

The Iberia Performing Arts League will perform its Christmas musical "A USO Christmas Show," which will be dedicated to veterans from World War II to the present and bring back the nostalgia of the 40s and 50s with classic Christmas tunes and humorous performances that would melt an ice queen's heart (Dec. 3-6).

For the New Iberia Downtown Business Association's Magic on Main Christmas Parade (Dec. 12), holiday goers can enjoy events throughout the day starting at 7 a.m., including the Teche Area Farmers MarketFood Truck Festival, crafts vendors, Christmas music and performances at Bouligny Plaza, "Frozen" children's costume contest, lighting of the community Christmas tree, the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce's Very Berry Christmas Community Quest, and Shop Berry Frozen deals at participating merchants.
The Jeanerette Holiday Market will also be held that day at the city's park.

Santa Sightings

With an abundance of Christmas parades happening around Iberia Parish, the kiddos will have ample opportunities to see the jolly man. Santa Claus makes his first sightings during the Delcambre Seafood and Farmers Market at Bayou Carlin Cove (Dec. 5) and the Jeanerette Christmas Parade (Dec. 6). On Dec. 12, the jolly man will follow the magical elf trail to the Cajun RVera before riding in the lighted Delcambre Christmas Boat Parade followed by fireworks in the evening. The next day (Dec. 13), he will guest star at the Delcambre Main Street Christmas Parade

With all these exciting events, the holidays are a wonderful time to visit Iberia Parish, because a trip here will certainly warm up your winter.
