NEW IBERIA, La.--- The Iberia Performing Arts League (IPAL) will present the musical comedy" I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" as its second production of the 2015-2016 season.
The show will open Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015 and continue Oct. 30, 31, and Nov. 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8. All evening shows are at 7:30 p.m. and the two Sunday matinees are at 3 p.m. at the Sliman Theater (129 E Main St. in New Iberia).
With book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, the show is the second-longest running off-Broadway musical and has been performed on five continents and translated into at least 17 languages.
This charming concoction, directed by Dianne Moss, scales the dizzying spectrum of romance and its many forms, from dating to marriage, the agonies and triumphs of dealing with in-laws and newborns, trips in the family car, and pick-up techniques of the geriatric set.
The show stars four talented actors: Vincent Barras and Kim Monroe who have delighted audiences many times on the IPAL stage; Clayton Chauvin who is appearing in his second IPAL show, having starred as Bill Starbuck in "The Rainmaker" last season; and Jill Stewart, who is a newcomer to the IPAL stage. These four promise to entertain audiences with a variety of roles in twenty different scenes.
This production is supported, in part, by a grant from the Louisiana State Arts Council, through the Louisiana Divisions of the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, administered through the Acadiana Center for the Arts.
"I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" is recommended for mature audiences only. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at any of the New Iberia outlets: Delaune's Pharmacy, Paul's Flowers, the Daily Iberian office, online at EventBrite.com or by calling the theatre at 337-364-6114 (Visa/Mastercard only).
