NEW IBERIA, La. --- Summer is a time for fun activities for youth and, as part of its yearly program, Iberia Performing Arts League will again hold a summer youth musical and a theater camp.
The theater camp is for kids ages 6-9 and the musical is for ages 10-18.
"Getting young people involved in theater is one of IPAL's goals," said IPAL President Kim Monroe. "It provides unique experiences, builds great friendships and gives an appreciation of the arts and, in particular, theater which is invaluable."
IPAL's Summer Theater Camp will be held July 20-24 from 9 a.m.-noon. This year's theme is Aladdin. Students ages 6-9 will have an opportunity to learn about theater, costumes, makeup, acting, singing and dancing, as well as some technical aspects of theater. Cost of the camp is $100 per child. There are a limited number of spaces available, and the form is available by contacting [email protected], Anne Caffery at [email protected], or Lanie Marcantel at [email protected].
IPAL's summer youth musical, "Hairspray," will be presented July 16-26. Auditions were held May 8-9 and rehearsals will begin June 1.
