New Iberia Downtown Artwalk
to feature local talents May 2
|
NEW IBERIA, La.--- New Iberia Main Street Program and the Downtown Business Association, Inc. are pleased to announce that the Downtown Spring ArtWalk will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 4-7 p.m.
They invite you to experience the heart of the community as you stroll along beautiful award-winning historic Main Street New Iberia. The self-guided tour begins at the Shadows-on-the-Teche Visitors Center (corner of E. Main Street and Center Street) and proceeds along both sides of East and West Main Street to Railroad Avenue, then to W. St. Peter Street to visit A&E Art Gallery, the Henton House and NILA Gallery.
Come meet working artists and discover some of their best art including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, ceramics, handcrafted items, pottery, woodcraft, yard art and jewelry.
The Bayou Teche Museum will be open and free to the public during the artwalk, in addition to hosting two artists and the George Rodrigue Exhibit.
Musical performances in the gazebo in Bouligny Plaza will feature the popular group "Two in the Chamber," provided through the generosity of Doyle Copell, owner of Bourbon Hall; Barry Guillotte, owner of Napoleon's and Mulligan's; and the Downtown Business Association.
Jolie Fleur Florist on 148 W. Main St. is featuring "Blue Merlot, Unplugged" (Grammy Award Winner) with Joshua Bubba Murrell and Brenda Lowry.
Super One Foods will be set up in the center corridor of Bouligny Plaza and offer free bottles of water to participants.
