NEW IBERIA, La. --- "A USO Christmas Show," an original musical using popular songs of the 1940s and 1950s, will be presented by the Iberia Performing Arts League in New Iberia for one weekend only, Dec. 11 - 14, 2014.
Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. Performances will be at the Essanee Theater, 126 Iberia St. in New Iberia.
"A USO Christmas Show" will feature an on-stage combo typical of the era, which will showcase the usual IPAL production values. Popular Christmas music of the period will be featured, along with traditional Christmas music, comedy, and skits.
According to director Kim Monroe, "Having the opportunity to work with our amazing IPAL family has been such an enjoyable experience. We are dedicating it to all of our veterans, but especially Mrs. Helen Bernard and Mr. Fred Comeaux, who not only were veterans in the era, but were instrumental in getting IPAL created. As Americans and theatergoers, we can never do enough to thank them."
