IPAL's "A USO Christmas Show" raises the curtain Dec. 11, 2014
IPAL's A USO Christmas Show will run Dec. 11-14.

NEW IBERIA, La. --- "A USO Christmas Show," an original musical using popular songs of the 1940s and 1950s, will be presented by the Iberia Performing Arts League in New Iberia for one weekend only, Dec. 11 - 14, 2014.

Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m.  Performances will be at the Essanee Theater, 126 Iberia St. in New Iberia.

"A USO Christmas Show" will feature an on-stage combo typical of the era, which will showcase the usual IPAL production values. Popular Christmas music of the period will be featured, along with traditional Christmas music, comedy, and skits.

According to director Kim Monroe, "Having the opportunity to work with our amazing IPAL family has been such an enjoyable experience. We are dedicating it to all of our veterans, but especially Mrs. Helen Bernard and Mr. Fred Comeaux, who not only were veterans in the era, but were instrumental in getting IPAL created. As Americans and theatergoers, we can never do enough to thank them."

This performance is supported, in part, by a grant from the Louisiana State Arts Council, through the Louisiana Divisions of the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. Funding has also been provided through the Acadiana Center for the Arts.

The production is directed by Kim Monroe, and stars Donald "Doc" Voorhies, Mike Parich, Wendy Parich, Mike Berry, Bud Forrest, Helen Richthofen, Carmen Nicholson, Mitchell Prudhomme, Cindy Hebert, Julaine Schexnayder, Connie Comeaux, Audie Comeaux, Jenny Gonsoulin, Molly Caro, Teresa Landry, David Wattigny, Mike Labiche, Billy Walker, Mallory Chaddick, Paul David, Rebecca Istre, Erin Segura, Bridget Touchet, David O'Quinn, Lanie Marcantel, Kate Sutton, Karen Bernard, Lynda Fontenot,  Corla Lindsey, Ellen Montgomery, Virginia Molbert, Corey Camille, Kevin Judice, Lynn DeRouen, Mike Vidalier,  Craig Colwart,  Jacqueline McCarthy, Robert McCarthy, Andy Soileau, Carmen Gonsoulin, Wyatt Deselle, Ryan Gonsoulin, Jr., Gracie Guillot, Kylie Haire, Michael Parich III, Abigail Richthofen, Luke Soileau and band members Paul Tassin, Josef Butts, and Charles Vincent.

"A USO Christmas Show" is presented with permission of the USO, but it is noted that this performance is not a USO event, nor endorsed by the USO, and ticket and concession sales will not benefit the USO.
