NEW IBERIA, La. --- Susannah Johnson Malbreaux recently accepted the general manager's position at the Candlewood Suites in New Iberia.
Her responsibilities include providing day-to-day leadership and direction by maximizing financial returns, driving development of people, creating and maintaining a unique guest experience, executing on brand standards and building awareness of the hotel and brand in the local community.
"I am excited to be managing such a beautiful hotel, Candlewood Suites," Malbreaux said. "I look forward to getting to know my guests, as well as being able to network in New Iberia."
After attending the former University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, La., Malbreaux worked in management and sales at Spectrum Photo and Imaging, Red Roof Inns, Jean Baptiste Foods LLC, Holiday Inn Lafayette, and Baymont Inn and Suites Lafayette Airport. She was also owner and director of Elite Photography/Model Business for four years.
Malbreaux's passion for the community drove her to get involved in various Acadiana organizations, including the Lafayette Economic Development Authority's Executive Committee, Lafayette Parish Public Education Stakeholders Council, Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Committee, and Southern Development Foundation.
City/Parish President Joey Durel appointed Malbreaux to the Lafayette Consolidated Government Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee. She is also a member of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, Greater Southwest Louisiana Black Chamber of Commerce, and State of Greater Black Lafayette, a grassroots organization for which she hosts educational forums to better the community.
In the past, Malbreaux served with the Lafayette Public Library Foundation Board, United Way of Acadiana, Rebuild Lafayette North Committee, Acadiana Arts Council, Faith In Action and Festival International.
"Ms. Malbreaux is a great asset to the Iberia Parish tourism community and our team looks forward to working with her to promote Candlewood Suites and Iberia Parish," said Fran Thibodeaux, executive director of the Iberia Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau.
